I actually voted on this one! I really wanted it to be a sort of greeny color on dark grey but I think I'll still get it anyway. ahh, the halcyon days of gas that was less than 2 dollars a gallon.

these colors work better.....they give the feeling of age and of a byegone era

I barely remember those days

yeah, I see your point. and I do like brown. I just have SO MANY brown shirts now, it seems that most of the threadless ones I like are brown. I just like the green and grey combo and I think that grass=green, though obvious is still nice.

Ok, obviously you're not the most respectful boy on this site. Although the design itself is nice, not the greatest but nice, the part of it you actually see is not all there is to it. Personally, I view it as a commentary, not only "hey, gas used to be so cheap!" but a commentary on where we were, as a nation, where we are and where we are headed. The juxtaposition of grass with an old gas price, now viewed as incredibly inexpensive, also leads one to think that we could find a better, more efficient fuel source than the currently relied upon oil. The dichotomy created by simple design and complex social commentary is not only interesting but thoughtful and compelling. I think that you would be hard pressed to find a shirt making that sort of a statement at GAP, which is what you said it reminded you of.

I also think that the simplicity of the design is fitting to the mood one might get from it. As Stevethegreat said, "the feeling of age and of a byegone era." We may recall when gas was that cheap and think of it as simpler times when we weren't so involved in such an unjust war, being led by a foolish man who should never have been elected, let alone RE-elected president and a time in our own personal lives that we may view as more peaceful and less cluttered.

So no, I don't think "it's simple, in a crap ugly kinda way."

And if my long explanation doesn't help here's door number 2: some people will just like things that you don't. and you don't have to understand. Just don't be a jerk about it.

I think the design it'self is nice, but I'm just not a brown-shirt-color type of person. And gas is under 2 bucks now down here. :D
