So the other night I was worrying that January is quickly approaching and thinking that if the new "brand" tees were not modified there would be no way in hell I could wear Threadless anymore. (And no I will not buy a guys shirt. I'm not a guy and don't want to look like I'm wearing a box.) The new sizes seem to exaggerate every problem I'm already having with the AA tees.

I decided to come up with a little "chart" sort of based on the tee photos posted by Westwoood in her blog. Her photo was the clearest and best illustrated the extreme size difference..

Please bear in mind that the opinions here are my own attempt to compile and correct many of the complaints I've seen about the new shirts. I did this because I happen to agree with this segment of the Threadless women. I understand that some girls are super tiny or short and that they like the new sizes but that petite population makes up a very small percentage of women.

After reviewing all of the comments on pretty much all of the blogs pertaining to the new shirt size for girls I've come to a few conclusions:

#1- Most girls think the sizes run far too small
#2- Most girls would like the shirts to be longer
#3- Most girls would like more room in the chest/shoulder area
#4- Most girls would prefer if the sleeves remained fitted but were just a bit longer.

I agree with all of your changes except I like that the new shirts are more fitted. I want them longer, but still the same width.

i hate that the new shirts are more fitted!

i would like the sleeves to be a bit longer.

I don't mind that they are more fitted. They just are a little TOO fitted. The sizing is way off I wear a size 4 in jeans and the girly small is waaaayyy too tight for your average non-hooker.

I also agree with longer... and I'm a short person. The sleeves didn't bother me that much to mention and more room in the chest is not bothersome to me but I have itty bitty ...

I agree with Yion. They can stay the same width, but more LENGTH, for god's sake! I'm tall! And more sleeve, please.

agree ,agree, and agree on 1 3 and 4. 2 not so much, but I am willing to accept a longer length if it means getting the 1,3, and 4 modifications.

just looked at the picture, and now I want all four changes made (the shirts look like they are too short!).

I'm actually fine with the new shirts a[art from the length, an extra 2-3 inches would be orgasmic.

jmaesmith on Dec 19 '06 at 3:38pm
the girly xl tees need to be wider they are too small for most of the people who where the aa girly xl. I got mine in the mail and tried it on and it was like shrink wraped to me and I am not that big but I do need an extra large shirt because I do not like things skin tight. I just really disappointed in the new sizes but I know they can fix it

i agree about the length. they definitely need to be longer
pyr4lis
pyr4lis on Dec 19 '06 at 3:40pm
Well I was trying to convey that the I'd like them a little more contoured than the current AA tees as I don't have enough room in the chest area. But I do agree that the new tees looks like they contoured them too much.
pyr4lis
pyr4lis on Dec 19 '06 at 3:42pm
The narrowest point on the "New" tees in my opinion should be the same as the AA tees as the waistline width is fine. I would just like a little more shoulder room and a little more room at the bottom of the tee to contour with the hips.

Westwood on Dec 19 '06 at 3:46pm
I like the new cut a lot, it just needs to be a bit bigger and a few inches longer IMO. The size up from what I normally wear fit pretty nicely, but that is really going to exclude a lot of people if they keep it like that.

Actually I haven't looked at it after a wash...anyone else washed theirs yet? I think mine is washed and line dryed at home...I'll check after work.

pyr4lis, thank you SO MUCH for putting this together. This is awesome. I hope the staff sees this and takes it into serious consideration. I barely squeak into the AA girly XL, so without these changes there's no hope for me in the new tees.
Westwood
Westwood on Dec 19 '06 at 3:50pm
I think even one of the staffers commented that she had to go from a medium AA to an XL in the new shirts.

Kogepan on Dec 19 '06 at 3:54pm
I like the length of the AA Larges right now (and they look to be about the same length as the new T's). I'm 5' 2" and if they make them any longer, I won't be able to wear these. A lot of shirts are being cut longer nowadays to balance the ultra low cut jeans, and they look really bad on me. I'm having a terrible time finding shirts now.

   spires on Dec 19 '06 at 3:56pm
If the sleeves were a tad longer, that would be an improvement. Otherwise, I wish the AA shirts were shorter in length. I can toggle tightness by purchasing for size and shrinking appropriately.

I'm too thin and shapely for any of the guys sizes.
Larlar
Larlar on Dec 19 '06 at 4:25pm
The guy's medium tee is too long. That's my only complaint.

It's just crazy long. The rest I love.

I now have to give my shirt to my sister because I can't fit it well.

Or I'll have to lose a lot of weight.

AssemblyLineHuman on Dec 19 '06 at 4:39pm
Yes! Make the sleeves longer. The new Girly sleeves look too short for me. Either that or make the Guys sizes smaller and/or make a Guys X-Small.

skyash1588 on Dec 19 '06 at 4:49pm
i agree.

i wear a girly XL, which is pretty snug on me.

i like my shirts to be form fitting but not tight.

and i would also appreciate more length.
lightnk102
lightnk102 on Dec 19 '06 at 4:51pm
i wouldn't mind the same length at minimum, and a more contoured torso. i'm a size 4 pant as well, and i wear an AA medium. the AA smalls are suctioned to my body, and making the new tshirts any smaller would be a mistake in my opinion. shorter is -never- better.
Siye
Siye on Dec 19 '06 at 5:14pm
Yeah I would like the shirt a little longer and yes ESP the sleeves a bit longer. I dunno about width size... I like the large fit I wear right now which is loose enough you dun see bra lines and ewww stuff like that...

I definitely agree with everything pyr4lis said. I think it's safe to say that I can't buy anymore Threadless shirts unless they fix these problems.

i think what they are calling small right now should probably be extra small...which is probably a good idea. then the petite ladies can be happy. and then make everything longer and bigger for the rest of us XD

rudra
rudra on Dec 19 '06 at 5:48pm
i agree with all those points

from what i've seen in the blogs it seems that:

small girls have less problems with size than larger girls

(i may be totally off in this - but it seems that most girls fitting smaller sizes are both slimmer and less curvy overall)

maybe they should just relabel what they have so that S is now XS, M is now S

but for anything above a M - the larger chest, wider hips, and desire for longer length and longer sleeves should be addressed

and - as has already been mentioned - curvy cut is good, but the narrowest point should be the same as the width of the current size - noone likes looking shrinkwrapped

Yeah one of the girls (I think one from the product pictures) said she wore a Medium and had to get an XL to fit.

Tee sizes are tricky. Sizes should be proportionately larger & smaller from a size Medium. (Specifically a size 6 or 8 "fit" model according to my pattern making professor)

I understand that there is a general agreement that the tiny size Small is ok. Unfortunately for those who happen to wear anything other than a Small the shirts are really screwed up as they don't proportionately get larger. They do get "bigger' but not in proportion.

Another thing that I feel would definately help fix the fit of the different sizes would be to do XS (0-2) S (4-6) M (8-10) L (12-14) & XL (16-18)

Obviously it's been stated many times by Threadless staff that there isn't enough demand for XS but I think that they should at least incorporate a very small run . Personally I think just by adding that one size it would balance out the fit of the other shirts so each size fits better.

I wear a size 4 jeans and the small is too small... it's tight, which is fine for my tight shirts, but because of the thinner material it actually shows my belly button "dip" and that's just weird. If I wear a shirt underneath it will probably be okay.

This makes the most sense to me too.

yeah... getting an XS size in would definitely help the smaller girls on this side of the country.

I've a few friends who can fit the kids sizes... but not every design has kids sizes.
pyr4lis
pyr4lis on Dec 20 '06 at 11:57am
Well I think getting the XS would also help balance out the rest of the sizes so they can make the others larger and to fit a more specific size. From what I can now girls from a size 4 all the way to a 10 are buying Mediums. The current Large only seems to fit a 10-12 and the current XL only fits a 12 or 14. Having an XS seems like it would allow for the other sizes to fit correctly.

I know for a fact that there's plenty of girls who've been wanting a larger 2XL girly shirt. But by adding an XS it allows for the XL's to be bigger as well. It just seems a win-win situation for everyone.

i'm not sure if i would class the current XL as a 12-14. maybe... it seems smaller to me though.
pyr4lis
pyr4lis on Dec 20 '06 at 1:54pm
lol well I was just guessing based on my own size and what I think threadless was "indending" the sizes to be for :P I wear a 10 and buy the Mediums because find both the Large & and XL to be too big and baggy. I would say that those who currently wear XL are the best judge of what sizes they actually fit.

yikes, that girly medium is a little too small for my liking. should I then order large from now on? =/

I normally wear a medium in most tops... but for teh AA shirts I go to a large... If they get any bigger I will have to go down to a medium. . just my two cents
flourpower
flourpower on Dec 20 '06 at 3:01pm
I just got mediums for the first time. I'm about 5'10" and they fit almost perfectly, tho (as usual) too short and too tight in the chest. And I'm not anything close to being superthin. The sizing is just plain weird.
Dr. Elusis
Dr. Elusis on Dec 20 '06 at 3:47pm
I'm a size 14 on top and already find the girly XLs a bit too snug. If they're getting smaller, I've made my last Threadless tee purchase for sure, because I just don't wear male-cut tees any more.
Westwood
Westwood on Dec 20 '06 at 4:29pm
I'm still wondering if anyone has washed theirs...the guy's shirts shrank at least a couple inches which really frightens me.
