Since I have no artistic ability whatsoever, but I thought this was kind of a cute idea, I thought I'd put it up here and let anyone run with it who might be so inclined.
We've all experienced pareidolia before. It's the perception of recognizable images (or sounds or other stimuli) where they do not truly exist. Common examples are seeing shapes in the clouds or faces in everyday objects. I thought it might be interesting to do a room scene or a street scape with as many faces hidden in it as possible. You know, doorknobs, electric outlets, appliances, houses, etc. with the facial aspects of them accentuated. Not to an overtly obvious extent, but enough so that you start to see more and more of them when you look. It might be a lot of work, and maybe you aren't as fond of the idea as I was, but I thought it couldn't hurt to suggest it. Feel free to take it and do whatever you want with it! Live free, little idea! Live free or die!
I was so excited to see this latest contest!
The magazine is a science geek's wet dream, and their website is a science geek's playground! I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys embracing their dorkhood. In other news, as of Friday, I'm a doctor! Well, not a medical doctor, but if you have any philosophical ailments, I'm your woman. In more other news, I just placed my first threadless order in waaaaaaay too long! Adam_antium, I hope you got the STP! In one more other news, I'm trying to convince Threadless to be a sponsor for Kittypalooza, a benefit show for Tree House, the animal shelter that took over Furry Friends. Whaddya say? Pussies love Threadless!
But first...Wow!! The changes to the blog forum are nice! I'm excited about the Critique option. It makes me feel like it's been even longer since I've made it on here! I'm sorry. I really am. I'm in dissertation hell right now and every aspect of my social life is suffering. Hopefully, it won't be much longer.
Aside from folding laundry, I've got the next couple hours to spend here. I'm excited to catch up with anyone who's on right now! So, what I wanted to let the ladies know is that a friend of mine just posted a bunch of great limited edition and first run Threadless t-shirts on ebay. She was a Threadless employee, so she's got some really good ones, like this. *** Here is where I give the disclaimer to current Threadless employees: If you feel this is inappropriate in any way, please just let me know and I'll delete it. Or if you want to take it down, I won't be offended. But please see the following paragraph for an explanation of why I'm posting this, k? *** If this were just for her personal gain, I wouldn't have offered to post about it here. But she's trying to raise money to get surgery for her cat who was recently diagnosed with cancer. That combined with the fact that she's offering designs I know some of you would be thrilled to see (for example), I feel like this is win-win! So, here's the link to her listings on ebay. And here's a link to the site she's set up for her kitty, Tigger. She's got a paypal donation link set up on it, too, if you'd like to help. I'm sure there are a lot of things like this set up that are scams, but I know Rani and she's always been really wonderful to me. Moreover, I'm touched that she's making this very difficult decision, and I really want to see Tigger be able to enjoy his life with her for as long as possible. Alright. Nuff of that. How is everyone?!?!
..please go vote on this design, if you haven't already! It's my dream come true- the 'mu' submission, but done up even cuter and with a geeky cat!!! I'm in love with this shirt!!
![]() The designer, Katiejam, said she could put 'mu' (using the appropriate greek symbol) in a speech bubble instead of on the book. I might just smile myself to death if this gets printed that way. Please go vote! Pretty please with a cherry on top!! And thanks to whomever pointed me on Tuesday!! I'd love to know who you are!
** Warning!! Semi-useless blog ahead!! **
Pandemonium for the boys (the younger one just wants to do everything the older one does). A Room with a View for the girl (bordering on teenagerhood!!). And Nuts! for me!! Thanks for the STP, whomever you are! And Box_Kite, hope you got mine. I promise to update the 'Whodunnit' blog tonight, but I've got to actually get some work done now that I spent all day waiting for the sale and new prints.
Hey, Charlie. I know your sound booth is probably in 412 pieces, but I hope you get it back up and running in the new space soon. I feel so lost without the podcasts. It's like I'm wandering through a huge desert of loneliness and despair, straining to hear the few first notes of that classic Michael McDonald song. But it's always so quiet. Come back soon, ya hear?
Sincerely, Your fans on the blogs.
Hello, my sweet threadless bloggers!
I miss you! I hope to be back soon, but I've had my hands full of pussy lately. 39 to be exact. But that's down from 83, so I'm feeling pretty good. Yeah, my life has all been about placing those kitties in loving homes before the shelter closes. But I wanted to stop by and say I haven't forgotten about you! Be back after the 15th. Love you- Julia
*Apparently bigger is better, so back with the original oversized photos!!*
I had the great fortune of hosting Kidaro here in Chicago recently!! He was an incredibly sweet houseguest and didn't even mind that we spent more time at the cat shelter and at kickball than seeing the typical Chicago sites. He did manage a trip to Threadless, in which he made out like a total bandit (not with Ross, but with tons of good loot- um, what do I have to do to get an Extra Tasty pint glass?). And we did manage to get one good Chicago touristy thing in, a Cubs game... ![]() For all my measly hospitality, I was granted incredible knowledge about life in Sweden (which is disappointingly similar to life here in the states) as well as this: ![]() That's right!! I now own the Moops!!! Shit, yeah!!! Hope the rest of your time in the states kicked ass, Kidaro! :)
I'm so glad your design got printed! It's adorable! What a nice b-day present, too! Kick ass!!
