I just felt that I had to say: There have been some effeminate designs on Threadless before, but nothing like this. If I see ANY of the male sizes decline on the stock chart page, I am going to burst out laughing all alone to myself. If you're a guy and you like this, well hey, that's cool, everyone's got their own style; but know this - I will be secretly laughing at you.

I'd wear it if it wasn't on pink.

I'm not going to lie to you.

ladykat on Feb 19 '07 at 12:18pm
Only guys who are really secure in their masculinity can get away with this... so I see why it's not your thing.

Meanwhile, I love the model, he's one of my faves

The shirt color is pretty terrible, design is good though.

Shep on Feb 19 '07 at 12:28pm
Haha wow, got a lot of quick responses. Now look, I'm definitely not the most masculine straight guy around, but come on, this is ridiculous. I think I've seen similar designs on fake Barbie doll shirts. I maintain my promise for laughing.

yeah I love teh design I just look kinda stupid in pink or id be on it like a fat kid on cake ... pink, frosted cake
Westwood
Westwood on Feb 19 '07 at 12:28pm
It's not my favorite shade of pink but I wouldn't think anything of it if I saw a guy wearing it. I agree not everyone could pull it off but it's a cool shirt.

Shep - we should tackle you, put this shirt on you, and duct tape you to a flagpole for all to see.

(because, you know, that would be the worst. thing. ever.)

Hooray for promulgating gender stereotypes!

When I read things like this, it always makes me think about those studies that find that people who are homophobic are often latently homosexual.

Men who wear pink are hawt.

And I'm not being facetious.
Steverr
Steverr on Feb 19 '07 at 1:44pm
People, stop pretending this isn't a girlie shirt. Also the design looks like a magic toucan shit on someone's stomach hardcore. Stop being pretentious with the "ZOMG I love teh design but teh color is no good". The design's not great either.
Petanca
Petanca on Feb 19 '07 at 1:50pm
ok, I understand that you don't like the color, but why would you laugh at someone who does: IT'S A COLOR, the result of the light and the capability of your eye to receive it, period.
iPear
iPear on Feb 19 '07 at 3:54pm

Pink looks great on you if you have a darker complexion, just gotta sack up and get over the gender stereotypes.

Update: Oh my god, the male sizes have declined, but the female sizes haven't. I - I'm speechless. I honestly don't know how to react to that.

As for the claims of gender stereotyping and all that, I think some people need to watch a movie called PCU (Politically Correct University) and think to themselves, could this possibly be me? The bottom line here is that for every guy that buys this shirt, you need to be able to imagine them walking into a Toys 'R Us, picking up a Barbie doll, and saying, "Wow, I really wish her shirt was big enough for me to wear."

Ridiculous.

shep you're a fucking moron.

sonmi
   sonmi on Feb 20 '07 at 10:34am
shep, i'm not sure why you think that the reasons someone would buy this shirt is because they think it's girly, as with your barbie doll example. they're buying it because they like the design on the shirt, and think that it integrates well with the pink, as with the reason any shirt is bought on threadless...
cbuchholz
   cbuchholz on Feb 20 '07 at 10:35am
You claim that a real man wouldn't wear pink. I claim that a real man wouldn't be afraid of something as harmless as a color.

buy it or don't buy it, that's up to you. But you're decision to do so reveals very little about what kind of man (or woman) you are.
tesco
   tesco on Feb 20 '07 at 10:38am
it's just a colour - light red.

what's really weird is how pink is seen as unquestionably feminine. Assigning colours gender specific roles is a crazy thing really. What is it with pink? I cant think of any other colour that has an attribute so strongly attatched.

MooseDinner

You haven't addressed the fact that you're obviously heavily influenced by gender stereotypes. You copped out by saying, "watch this movie." And then you compared men who wear this shirt to barbie dolls. Yeah, that doesn't sound like your stereotyping anybody.

This is pathetic. There's nothing inherently girly about a COLOR. Not caring if people think you look a little girly because of the shirt you're wearing is a lot more "manly" than to be so insecure that you can't wear a shirt because of the color. Does it not match your purse? Is that why you're so upset about this?

at one point pink was considered a manly colour and blue was a girly colour

oh and i don't have an issue with pink or wearing girly colors other than light colors don't go well on me. I have dark hair and pale skin. i prefer darker colors in my clothing as it better frames my face. with light or bright colors I kinda wash out.
