It really pees me off when I give someone a 5 thinking theyve done it themselves when i stumble upon it doing a google image search

for example i gave this guy a 5

http://www.threadless.com/submission/60208/Jarhead#lastcomment

and then found the original

it really ticks me off when people don't put (for example in this case)

http://www.bobotheseal.com/personal_work/concepts/UT-Soldier.jpg

in the first post with links they want people to look at... but that's just me.

of course, you can still withdraw your 5. just revote/re-click on the numbers.

going to zero it because i want to be liked only gave it a 2 in the first place too many head replacements now apart from my idea of replacing a head with a panda head with heart tatoos down the side of the pandas skull

And then you're blackballed.

plaugerism = a plagerism plauge
which is what we seem to have running all over the net....it is such a shame that people feel they can steal to make a profit....
i wouldnt care if somebody took my work of the net made themselves a print and hung it on their wall.....but if they tried to sell it or make money off it somehow......that just gets me all a fired and riled up........
pirating a song = lost profits....ok not good, but not horrible
selling that song as your own music to make money....just downright horrible....punishable by threadless banishment.......
BANISHMENT I SAY....!

I wondered about that when I scored it. It was so well drawn and yet so hideously placed on the shirt... Shirt color was a bad choice, too. I doubt that anyone that's that good of an illustrator is so bad as layout and color.

Nah this is one of my favorite pictures of a soldier, it just explains the period so well, oh its vietnam war:

http://www.vietnampix.com/bilder/sol1.jpg

I'm also fond of this one:

http://www.vietnampix.com/bilder/sol2.jpg

and this picture I love the stickers on the guys helmet:

http://www.vietnampix.com/bilder/fire1.jpg

The stickers on his helmet read: "Bomb Saigon Now" - "Bomb Hanoi Now" - "Bomb Disneyland Now" - "Bomb Everything".

Bobo the Seal is awesome! And I feel sorry for him getting ripped off, just like all the other awesome illustrators that get ripped off, with the culprit thinking no one will ever know such an obscure reference. I've been seeing Bobo's work for a couple years over at www.conceptart.org. I know that a couple of the threadless artists are also conceptart.org participants, so if you try to rip off any of them, you will be found.

it's called google image search ... do it before you ever submit a design ... just to make sure another person hasn't already had your genius idea ... in some cases, the google image search isn't necessary because you know you're a scammer, right Jarhead?

people think they can just cut and paste and nobody will be the wiser. people also think that anything on the internet is there for the taking. people are dumb.

Pico
Pico on Dec 03 '05 at 12:31pm
I agree with javguerre, unfortunately :o( Many of the submissions here were obviously traced from photos or they used the photo itself with super high contrast. Thankfully when the original is found people usually e-beat the person into the ground.

However, it's rare to come across a truly original design. Almost everything has been done before, so it doesn't bother me when I see a "copied idea" (assuming the drawing itself is original). You can't copyright ideas for this reason, after all 8o)
javguerre
javguerre on Dec 03 '05 at 12:33pm
yeah, sometimes, people do coincidentally have ideas that are almost exactly alike, if not identical. there are so many people on Earth that such incidents are inevitable
