Anyway, Grendel's from the classic, Beowulf. Poor, poor little Wulfie. When you only have a wimpy guy named Wiglaf helping you slay a big monster thingie, you know that you're doomed. I think. Maybe.

is this just about the poem "beowulf"? or, could it be . . . are you by any chance talking about john gardner's "grendel"? because that is an AWESOME book, and gardner is probably the greatest writer of the mid-twentieth century. probably. i vacillate on that some. at any rate, he's fucking great. so, i hope you're talking about that, somehow. even though "beowulf" is a great poem, too.
