Well, I must say that since I ordered my first batch of Threadless shirts, the quality, wit and creativity of the submitted designs have severely declined. It makes me sad. Every once in a while I will find a submission or a new shirt I like, but they are few and far between. And the submissions I rate well are seldom printed. I feel like Threadless has fallen prey to the vultures that are hipsters, scenesters and overall obnoxious trendster teenagers. I am almost reluctant to submit anything because of the morons that I see wearing Threadless nowadays. And I don't mean to sound like a pretentious bitch (which I probably do right now) but I used to LOVE getting Threadless newsletters, but they just gradually stopped having anything I liked or would ever, ever buy or wear. And I'm hoping that eventually all of the oboxious culture vultures will leave, and all the original creative, nerdy folk will stick it out so Threadless can be reclaimed by the people who initially made it what it was. And by the way, the word tees were the worst fucking idea ever. The world doesn't need any more idiotic phrases plastered everywhere.

First off, if you hate it here so much now, just leave! I'm so amused by people who constantly bitch about websites yet still hang around them. Second of all, the Type Tees weren't a new invention. They used to be part of the OMG Brand tee spin off website... all they did was incorporate it into Threadless itself when they redesigned the site. It's not subtracting from the other designs. In fact, they started printing on a weekly basis after adding the Type Tees... so there are more regular designs than the text ones. (I'm not crazy about them either, but I just don't buy 'em so it's no big deal.)

Anyway, I'm not saying you can't complain. But it's irritating to those of us who actually like it here and want to blog to have fun and share there love of the website and art.

What I love most is how everyone blames it on Threadless the company, when clearly it is *us* who makes up the company because it's a community based website. The people who complain about Threadless going downhill ought to actually submit designs.

CheesecakeBree, the OMG clothing was a lot better than the Type Tees because that gave people who had ideas but no artistic ability the oppurtunity to make some money, as well making as a really cool shirt. Shirts like 'Real Men Hunt with Swords", "You win gravity" and the others were designs based around the words, not just the words themselves. Not that I "hate" the Type Tees (as I own Hakiu and Giants talk like this) but I did like the idea of OMG better than the Idea of the Type tees.

and Threadless (company) does decide what to print.
There are high scoring subs that don't make it and low ones that do.

theymightbepoz - Yeah, I see your point. I thought the OMG Clothing was a good concept, too... but obviously it wasn't working out or they would have left it as is. Non artistic people still have the opportunity to make money, they just don't create whole designs out of them.

Jennifuhrer - True. Threadless the company does make the final decisions. Yet overall, the *direction* of the website is fueled by the masses... Threadless is not going to print something unless it has a ton of "would buy" votes, otherwise they would loose money.

As far as the "idiotic" phrases go, I think that a bit of creativity and support for those with some, say alot about a person. I'm proud of my haiku, and I think others that find it amusing/funny deserve to be able to share it with others. If you don't like it then fine, but some people will/do, and it's for those people.

hey meng lighten up
its not cool to cease having interest in something because a stereotype you dont like happens to be in your mind, wearing it as well
if i had a nickel for every girl in my school who i dont like who is copying my damn 'i-have-just-come-back-from-1975-pass-the-bellbottoms' hairstyle i would have nine dollars and thirty cents, but i wouldnt shave my head
does that make sense in a goofy way?

All about me
I am saddened by the rapid decrease in quality I have been witnessing in threadless submissions. For shame, fellow nerdfolk, for shame.
