Brilliantly done in terms of plot and characters and cinematography and one of the best soundtracks in a long time.

I wasn't paying too much attention when I saw it and I'd need to see it again but it's no LotR

I like the part with the arrow of fire.

And I wish i could wake up in a house where knights eats cereal,

maybe take away the whole BALLS on the forehead bit.

but a stellar movie, resides around the top of my list

There's no reason to compare it to LotR. Those are different classes of movies. LotR is made to be an epic with an extremely high budget. Garden State was just well written and directed and produced. I think that's often a better measure of an actor or a director.

It's decent. Not really my ideal film with it's modern day teenage angst and stuff.

I know it's completely different from LotR but I just love LotR so much that I end up comparing everything to it

sorry if I offend

I didn't really like it! I thought it was completely overrated.

I love this film, you know I read a review of the film that compared Zach Braff to Woody Allen for generation x.

I want to see it, I've heard it is really good, and I love Zach Braff.

Eh, I don't think it was that great. I like some of the soundtrack though. I found it pretty forgettable as well, since all I can remember is a girl talking about The Shins, Zach Braff, and people yelling.

i know how to do the fast forward special effect during the ectasy scene...i put it in a project once...but the story was crap, that one scene was the only good part of it...good times.

It was ok i guess. pretty overrated. There were some cool scenes and nice music but that's about all it had going for it.

er, zach braff needs to do much more before anyone can compare him to woody allen. when i saw garden state in the theatre, i walked out relatively pleased... then pretty much forgot the whole thing. like ice cream... with a great soundtrack. i watched it again on video recently, and it was horrible the second time. i didn't care about the characters, you realize just how little natalie portman's character has to do, what a mooney moody bastard zach braff is, and how the film has already lost its gloss. it was golden for a specific moment in time, and for that moment, we were all transfixed. but it doesn't hold up. people are already looking back and laughing.

of course, the soundtrack was and always will be awesome.
