about Monday!!!
People who complain about starbucks costing too much are usually the ones who buy a venti (insert obnoxious cold vaguely espresso containing beverage).

When I get starbucks, which is rare nowadays since I have both an espresso machine and a normal drip coffee maker, I usually get a short or tall at best latte, or even a tall drip coffee - the cheapest of the three. I also almost always bring in my own cup which is an additional 10 cents off - if you get a lot of coffee this ends up saving you a lot.

You don't need all that much liquid and most of it is empty calories from sugar - that you are paying many times the actual value for. Sugar is super cheap and so are the artificial flavours and colours they put into the rubbish drinks.

That's why I am a supporter of, as Dennis Leary said, coffee flavoured coffee.

are you kidding me dude.

starbucks wouldn't exist were it not for the ceo visiting your country and being impressed by your coffee shops.

starbucks is entirely a clone of italian coffee bars.

almost everything is italian inspired from our accent placements to the names of drinks (affogatto anyone?)

I enjoy locally based coffee shops more than I do starbucks... They have terrible, terrible hot chocolate, for one.
gordond
gordond on Sep 28 '06 at 11:12am
Ah, nodus. The thing about starbucks' hot chocolate is that you have to have it made well.

Some people do well.

Other people do a rubbish job.

Hot chocolate, oddly enough, is awesome with a small bit of butter in it.

And no, there is not a single starbucks in Italy.

It would be like opening up a "chinese restaurant" in china.

People would laugh and say, ha! dude! we just call it food.

These types of orders astonish me:

I'll have a half caf, double decaf, triple venti latte with organic skim milk, 3/4ths a Splenda and 180 degrees.

???

Yes.

Those are the orders that make me want to sterilize the person ordering.

There was a Simpsons episode where they closed down everything in the mall and changed it to Starbucks. That's what happens in my town (or so it would seem). I'm just bitter because they closed down the bookshop where I worked, and it's also a friggin Starbucks. We now have 10.

debora, did you ever have a seattle coffee company near you? thats the company starbucks bought out in the uk before they arrived with force...
deboraborialis
deboraborialis on Sep 28 '06 at 4:39pm
We used to have one. I think it's still there. It was nice, as there was really nothing else like it at the time.

But!, theers only one still, i think theres gonna be another one soon, butm here you could get a good cup of coffee in tiny shops without trying too hard :D

I agree with you wholeheartedly...

sticking with coffee flavored coffee is loads cheaper, plus it's not empty calories. The furthest I ever really go beyond black coffee is a latte. After drinking black for awhile, the sweet stuff is just too sweet.

French press all the way!

I don't know that you can really like or hate living without having experienced death. Because there's nothing to actually compare life to.

That said, I enjoy living.

All about me

"I am boring and smell of bologna." - this is an inside joke I have with minxorjinx. I don't actually smell of bologna and I'm not particularly boring, really. Well, I'm never ever bored. If you are ever bored you have to come to terms with how incredibly short life is and how infinite a number of things there are we can really choose from to do in one lifetime.

i write a lot and design a little. unfortunately i don't draw too well but somehow manage.

i help make the lovely web site askvampirebear.blogspot.com , home of vampire bear - he is looking for your questions! he just wants to help.
