I used to be able to guess a score within .2 almost everytime, especially my own, based on comments, but taking 2 of my latest as an example, my expectations of these were completely flipped, though to be honest, even if you reversed the scores the Hybrid design still scored much better than I expected based on feedback.

Whats crazy is how similar these two were. Both had animal parts and patterns, similar inking styles, and were presented on white shirts. They also had a nearly identical amount of scores, and were scored very closely together.

To be honest, I couldn't be happier with either score, im just blown away by how insanely different the scores are from what I expected.

My hypothesis is that people do not write nearly as many critical comments as when I first joined. So the amount of comments is largely based on how many people feel like letting you know they like your design and is much less indicative of the overall scoring sentiment. In the old days, getting nearly 40 more positive comments (duplicate comments considered) almost always meant getting a much better score. Clearly this is no longer the case.

110 comments, 5 were mine.

Great scores for both. I can never tell what will score well. I am interested to see how my current sub turns out. I expected my "Like water through my hands" to break a 3 and it didn't even come close. Wishful thinking I guess. You spend so much time on a concept and design, you just want to see a high score on it!!

I do think there are a lot less critical comments because some people get there feelings hurt. Then they get all defensive. Then the person that made the comment gets crap for just giving an honest answer, so they don't take the time comment anymore because it's just a hassle. I think that is part of the problem anyway.

My interpretation is that the two are probably a lot less similar than you assume.

I can agree with that comment being critical of anything ever is really not worth it here

that's not true randy,

if a critical comment has weight then it will be received well

if it is shit then it will be debated, just like anywhere

I have seen other people make worthwhile comments and be steamrolled for it but I dunno I dont wanna talk about, I have a headache, its my time of the month, I have an early meeting, maybe in the morning, stop being so clingy.

You probably assume im comparing them from a conceptual standpoint. I am speaking to voting trends. A lot of art and scores can be grouped based on specific stylistic tendencies, voting periods, and other factors, more than specific content itself.

You spend so much time on a concept and design, you just want to see a high score on it!!

I definitely know what youre saying here, but I was actually just speaking in terms of comparions. I expected hybrid to score lower because my subs that scored around what it got usually got more feedback/comments, and then because that scored so highly, and Spirit got way more comments, I expected that to outscore it.

I don't know but "Spirit" to me was about the beauty, harmony, style and very cool tee design where as "Hybrid" accomplished that too but engaged my mind as well. So, cleverness, (wit or ingenuity, in the best sense of that word), may add another level of enjoyment to the viewer. That of interacting with the art and feeling rewarded and satisfied upon getting it.

I seen some designs from last year with about 2000 votes .
Is that even possible anymore?
