May 5, 2008 - Marvel Entertainment is going strong after Iron Man's huge opening weekend, and the company today announced their feature film release slate through 2011. That schedule includes the Iron Man sequel and Thor in 2010, and not one but two Avengers-themed movies in the summer of 2011.

Iron Man 2 will hit theaters on April 30, 2010. Thor, which has Stardust helmer Matthew Vaughn attached, will follow on June 4, 2010. The character, according to Marvel Studios' David Maisel, will first be introduced to moviegoers in Iron Man 2. Then, on May 6, 2011, Marvel will release First Avenger: Captain America (that's the first we've heard of the movie's working title), followed by a full-on Avengers movie, aptly named The Avengers, in July 2011.

The studio also confirmed that the Ant-Man film is still in active development with Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead) directing. There's no release date for that one yet.

Edgar Wright...(also with roles for Nick Frost and Simon Pegg, though not main characters) = Ant-icipation

ahaha antman
I always thought he was pussy.
I like the part when the Hulk broke Pym's kneecap in one of the Avengers animated movies.

Ant Man was one of the original avengers, and he eventually becomes GIANT MAN. Thor and Cap are cool super heroes, too, so dont be mean. Thor, Nick Fury, Cap, Ant Man, Black Widow, Hulk and Iron Man = Avengers

Pym IS a pussy. He has severe issues in the comic books...hes a wife beater and everything...real bastard. Might make for a very interesting dynamic.

One this is sure...there wont be a blade 4 hahahaha

I heard like at least 2 years ago Steven (maybe 3), and I think it was supposed to be an Avengers movie, i just remember the idea of him playing The Mighty Thor disappointed me a whole lot

Idunno who's authentic -- I just had the comics from back in the day. Teams are always changing. Look at x-men with their gold and blue period. They are like Van fuckin' Gogh.

I can't wait to see Thor's costume design. I think one of my favorite things to see when it comes to these movies is how they design the costume. Here's to hoping that Hank Pym's costume is like... one of those one piece pajama suits with the buttflap, and a bicycle helmet.

I still find it weird with all the halfgods walking on marvel's earth.

They did a great job with iron man and his costume. I want that led on my chest too. And Thor got like what...six of those on his armor ^^

nope ironman.

2 things, guys

1) Read the irredeemable Antman!!!

2) Edgar "Shaun the dead" Wright is co-writing/directing!!!!

I have a feeling somehow they're going to tie Thor in by making Tony Stark somehow create like...his Vest o' Superfuck.

I haven't read any of the comics where Eric O'Grady is Antmanguy, but I do remember seeing his first appearance in a Civil War comic, and it was pretty funny.

what makes iron man lame? I dont get that at all. Genius inventor comes to realize the error of his ways when nearly killed by his own weapons...his suit of armor is powered by his fucking heart which has shrapnel permanently imbedded in it! THAT IS BADASS. AND IRON MAN ACTUALLY KILLS PEOPLE. He isn't all "im too good to kill people like a bad guy" like Superman and Batman.

yay!

iron man was perfect. I don't want to go off on a 10 page essay about why it was FUCKING AWESOME AND I'VE ALREADY SEEN IT TWICE, but anyway- I wouldn't have changed a thing.

Me and Jackachrisnapes talked about this, but cyberjarvis was a little lame. But it worked. Although, I would have thought it was hilarious if they had "I'magay" ultimates universe Jarvisguy.
Ste7en
   Ste7en on May 05 '08 at 6:34pm
I think cyberjarvis worked really well, especially because it distanced Iron Man from Batman a little more.
iPear
iPear on May 05 '08 at 6:37pm
Yeah, also, it kind of functions as the text prompts you see in the Iron Man comics, so that woiks.

Hahahaha the Jarivs butler voice. I think it was funny that Iron Man (i forget his "normal person" name) is so advanced in technology that he even made his synthetic technology be a sarcastic assmunch. But it makes sense if the only things he communicates with are robots and Paltrow, the closest thing to a robot we have in human skin. So Iron Man is pretty much the superhero version of Mike Nelson from Mystery Science Theater.

Also, I would have loved if Jeff Bridge's character had upgraded his Iron suit to shoot out white russians to settle people down.

If they fuck up Captain America I will be so pissed!

And call me cynical and pessimistic or what have you, but calling the movie First Avenger: Captain America instead of just plain ol' Captain America makes me believe they'll fuck it up.

If, for instance, they change his costume to that horrible wingtip-less one from the Ultimates that looks like an American flag copulating with a football uniform . . . that will ruin it. In fact, if they take Cap and make him the Ultimate version of Cap . . . that will ruin him.

He had better be a supersoldier of the WWII era who originally punched Nazis in the face. The Redskull had better be the enemy. And Cap had damn well better have been frozen in an iceberg for sixty years.

Seriously.

And if I don't hear the phrase "vita-rays," heads are gonna roll, son.
