about No Sweets
i thought of this at work one day while waiting for illustrator files to render. i was going to do a design for msce involving teeth, which spun-off to this.it's the only design i've ever had up for critique, and i got so much good advice there, so thank you everyone who commented! the initial sketch: ![]() thanks so much to those who voted on this and said nice things or those who didn't vote and didn't say nice things or somewhere in between! also, i'm happy to report that i went to the dentist last wednesday and had no cavities. about Monday!!!
this was made for the pinche uno/one color contest run by stickymike. it won 1st place, but i think i only ended up receiving one prize for it, ha. that's all. i printed out the text for "monday" beforehand, to get an idea of how it'd look if a miniature personified coffee mug were punching it.![]() the end about Believe It
i had procrastinated on this for over a year, but now am super stoked to finally have it out.i guess it's a semi-personal select, because it encompasses and pays homage to some elements and themes that have appeared in my art in the past two years or so, including some i'm starting to phase out. i guess it makes it sort of a time capsule of this period in my art making. the colors were chosen to be reminiscent of vintage toy packaging from the american southwest. cowboys and indians sort of stuff. the tan and the orange because of the southwest, and the blue, because there was a lot of blue ink used back then. maybe it was cheaper than black. i had also made a conscious effort to make an affordable select design, so i'm pretty happy that it ended up having a $17 price tag. i'm not super big on specialty inks to begin with, and i figure if all shirts can use them now, there's no need to feel pressured to go all out on the select. having these limitations makes for a more fun designing process, anyway. i guess that's it for the select write up. i also had the honor of having a complementing bag to go with the shirt, which was made by the kind folks at timbuk2. but i think linkage to that on threadless' part will come in due time. xo zonmi
that's how much is in my cart right now
bold moves edit: i checked out with $198... guys med decapitated doomsday sold out :(((( but i got the last girly large suckaszrers about Wishless
i first thought of this design in february 2006, but never did anything with it. the original drawing looked like this:![]() one day i decided to redraw it, so i did. the end. about Electromagnetic Spectrum
i was taking an "evolving universe" astronomy course when i made this design. saw the electromagnectic spectrum diagram in my textbook, and... decided to draw it, for whatever reason.![]() apparently there's a girl who was spotted wearing this a few times around the science buildings on campus, but i never did get a chance to bump into her. also, threadless needs to have more creepy product photo series like they had in the week that this shirt was released, with the bike helmet dude. |
Check me out, I got printed! My gallery photos
