  • I think the design's pretty cool, and I do definitely think with some tweaking, I'd buy it. However, I think one thing that strikes me a lot about the design that I find jarring is the lack of balance on the sleeves. I really like the back design, and feel like the front design is pretty solid, but the sleeves in particular feel imbalanced. I also feel like maybe having design on the hood is unnecessary/doesn't fit in with the design as well? One thing about something like a hoodie is that you want to try to keep a lot of it balanced, and putting bits and pieces all over the hoodie (while very well done) can make the overall design feel a little disjunct.

However, I'd definitely look into maybe the sword on both sleeves, keeping the front and back designs the same, and then changing the upper arm/forehead designs, if you keep it at all. I think the design definitely has some potential and you're really good at creating the concept through the design. Good luck!

  • @xandox, the old design was just the symbol, no words. And the symbol wasn't even the same symbol... some similar elements, but I totally changed it. I do agree though, that part of the unpopularity is that only some people would get the reference...

@richei, I definitely can see where you're coming from. I guess I was worried that without some sort of text or context in that way, and just the symbol, that it would be too central/I wanted to break out of the circle, and the text was one way I wanted to do it. I'd like to keep the text (unless I can find some other form of breaking the circle in a different way that contextualizes it more) but I wonder what a good way to minimize the effect might be. ALSO, thanks so much for the support either way! I'm not terribly worried about the shirt going to voting, it's how it'd do in voting I'm more concerned about... haha.

I'll try to get to both of your designs today and look at them!

  • I think your design is pretty cool. I like the boldness of the black as a color choice: my only suggestion/critique would be working on defining the nose more. I get that's where the snout is graphically, I just feel like some sort of definition of even just the end of the nose, the whisker pores, something to give shape and definition to that big black mass. Otherwise, I think the rest of the design is quite solid.

  • I wish the person who said "don't submit this" had commented to let me know why they thought that... do they just not like it or...? I'd love to hear other people's opinions!

  • I think this fits the idea of parody, so you'd be set. I think the only thing I'd fix is what you said, the cookies. Otherwise, it's a really cool concept!
