I just got permission from the client to show these. Click on the link to see the mega size zoom on the board. It took flippin' forever to make all that stuff. All done completely in Adobe Illustrator.

Here are the character tokens/pawns whatever you want to call them.

It should be in stores in a couple months I believe.

I am intrigued and horrified at the same time ('Your turn... Smell this!'). I can see this game going down a few roads best left untravelled, but it actually looks like a lot of fun. The design is fantastic. Love the cricket dude!

there we go, I got the big version link working, I know they've already started production and that's how I got permission to show it. I don't know when it actually hits the big stores though. I did it at the beginning of the year.

haha, thanks guys. Yeah the concept is that kids move around the board and if they land on a "smell spot" they draw a card, scratch it, and try to guess what the smell is. There are good, bad, and mystery smells. I'm not quite sure what mystery smells are, haha. I just draw the pictures, they add the smells.

that looks really cool

but does anything smell good? it looks like it all smells like animals covered in garbage!

squintygirl on Sep 15 '06 at 2:25pm
If this game was around when I was a kid, my cousins would have immediately made a hundred mystery smell cards. None of them very pleasant. :)

this project did take a while but I finished it a couple months ago. My latest jobs were doing a Dinosaur Valentine Card set for PMG and some concept art for some Fox cartoon pitches.
Rockslide
   Rockslide on Sep 15 '06 at 2:41pm
haha, mezo always makes me laugh. Those fists have been bloodied by some preppy who smelled good, probably a poodle or a house cat. And he's supposed to be a stink bug, c'mon he looks just like one, don't you know your smelly animals?
mezo
   mezo on Sep 15 '06 at 2:41pm
That's some real intricate stuff on this game, Rock. I had no idea you were such a "professional"!! But why, pray tell, do I spy Comic Sans?
squintygirl
squintygirl on Sep 15 '06 at 2:42pm
Sorry for calling the stink bug a cricket. I like him even more, now.

Maybe his fists are bloody from making armpit farts all day.

crap! it is comic sans, I know, but the client! they made me do it, holy crap, all the things I have to do for all my clients, haha. I love the "improves cognitive skills of kids" haha. That makes me laugh all the time. Technically, flipping a light switch on and off will improve a kid's cognitive skills too.

I can't show the concept art yet. It is for a company that is pitching ideas to Fox, so its not like actual Fox cartoon stuff, although that would really be cool if it did get picked up. I want to show the dino cards, they turned out really cool. I think I have to wait another couple months though.

I think the client is sending me a couple copies of it, maybe I'll have to do a contest for a copy of it or something. It would be a nerdy challenge though, like identifying a handful of random toys.

Thanks Jublin! Yes the new site is up and running (mostly)
Visit it NOW!

Wow that looks amazing! When I was younger I loved boardgames with a gimmick to them... I used to have this one called 'splat' or somethign that involved making plasticine bugs and splatting them. Like moustrap, it was one of those games that takes forever to set up and then is all over in about 5 minutes!

Aah, good times.

I had another interactive one actually, it was 'hide and seek' and it was basically a childrens play park that you had to hide your pieces under for some reason, e.g the blue piece would be under the see-saw... my parents must have really been into this 'improves cognitive skills' theory!
