Features that I would love to see supported in Threadless blogs and comments:

* Full search capability of comments and blogs, with the ability to find all comments by a specific user or by a specific text phrase

* HTML support for images, links and font styles

* A "Preview" button for text entries

* An "Edit" button for text entries (only the author or admins would be able to edit text)

* A "Delete" button for text entries (with the same restrictions as the Edit button)

* "Buddy lists": An editable list of names that would highlight blog entries or comments from authors on this list

* "Ignore list": An editable list of names that would suppress blog entries or comments from authors on this list

What would you like to see supported for your blog?

Dont agree with HTML in blogs, edit button or the Ignore list idea, otherwise cool. I'll tell you why in a minute, gotta walk the dog.

those are good except for these:

* "Buddy lists": An editable list of names that would highlight blog entries or comments from authors on this list

* "Ignore list": An editable list of names that would suppress blog entries or comments from authors on this list

Robsoul: "don't be an elitist bastard"

Too late! :)

There are some Threadless users who simply add more noise than signal to the comments/forums. I can't be bothered reading insulting comments IN ALL CAPS.

Also, there are some users whose opinions I resepct, and if they're making a comment in a submission entry, I'd like to know about it.

I think it sounds good, beside the ignore list. Even though i do agree that insulting commments from the many immature people get to be really annoying, i dont think that threadless would ever let it go through, with the whole, everyone has a say, i suppose? But definitely we need a blog search, now.haha.

HTML is just bad because as much as I'd love to constantly post stupid pics and stuff unfortunatly so does everyone else, so the place would lose it's mature edge. Plus, if you can edit your comments people who were losing arguments would go back and change what they had said, I know it sound trivial but it's quite important, I reckon.

I reckon so, i agree that html would not be a good idea, especially with an increasing immature demographic. these "kids " would run a mock with the html, im sure of it.

I'd like to see some sort of check box or button for reporting submissions that are either using (1) outright stolen images or (b) borrowing heavily from copyrighted material. When adding a comment, you would include the URL of the original source image, and a copy of the comment would be forwarded to the Threadless admins.

Dunno if this is really needed, as I feel that this should probably be more of a community effort, but giving the admins a heads-up would be nice, too.

I agree.
we really need edit buttons I think.
I hate it when I notice a spelling error too late.

I would love to see a Threadless T-Shirt Hall of Shame.

"....so the place would lose it's mature edge."

Only if there was a way to remove the use of obscene language and subject matter from the blog forum, and design comments. Excessive use of profanity is very unprofesional, and immature.

maybe the site already has it but i'd like to see a search engine so you can search for enteries by title / designer ..I'll see a design that i know looks like another one and have to spend a while searching for it..but yea im lazy

and I like elitist bastards! a buddy list would be fun..

xiv: I appreciate your striving for keeping the blogs and comments professional and respectful! Perhaps a fine compromise would be some sort of a language filter that users could check off with a check box: if the box is checked, then common profanity would be substituted within that viewer's blog.

Sometimes I just need to drop an F-bomb. I should not be censored for this, and on the other hand, a reader who does not wish to read such profanity should have the option to filter such language out.

you can always post again correcting it, if you really think people care.

i vote no HTML or edit, the rest sounds great.

my 2 cents:
HTML is not a good idea at the moment. I agree with Perudoesitbetterthanu, that the increasing immature demographic will cause it to be out of hand. Although it's a way of expressing. (Take 'myspace' for example. Those pages/blogs are a mess. Yikes)

Other blog/message board features are a must, I think. It should be a given that you can edit, proof.

HERE HERE!
I totally am on board with that, and was very disappointed to see the result of your sleuthing, Phineas... Great job. but.. what now? :( So many of these entries are clip art.

I hope that Threadless is prepared to deal with these issues. They didn't seem to be too strict when accepting the entries. Thanks for starting the conversation! :)
