Hey Hey Everyone!

I've been working on some exciting, new artist programs, but I wanted to hear from you about what you'd like to see on Threadless! What would help you out in your daily artistic endeavors? Would you like to see more templates? tutorials? portfolio help? other opportunities? I'd love to hear from y'all!

Much Love,
Mimi

**Also, If you ever have any questions, email me anytime at mimi@threadless.com. :-)

GO TEAM!

Some official Threadless flash templates would be pretty spiffy. And with the flash template, a PDF tutorial on how to make simple changes? There are many that have problems, even with Manos' explanation on his blog with his template.

All the stuff in there are pretty great.
Maybe provide links to some of the more popular tutorials posted in the blogs in the Artists Programs page?

And I've always wanted to see an Adventure challenge. Sorry if there's already been one.

I see a lot of posts from people who don't have a clear understanding of what the submission guidelines are: what inks and shirt colors are available, how the UV and glow inks actually look and what kind of shirt colors should they go on, etc. So I guess I'd like the specs to be more clear and easy to find.

Thanks for asking!

I haven't checked up on the pdf files for a while, but maybe that could be updated if it hasn't been, yet?

Yes, shirt color options would be nice.

Some actual incentive for people with real opinions in the critique section, instead of everyone spamming for people to check out their own critique

A selection of different flash templete styles would be nice. I know there are a few Blogger donated versions running around but some cool threadless generated ones would be cool too.

I think the Threadless submission kit needs a complete face-lift. Those boxy flat shirt templates are lackluster at best, and the photo models, while very sexy, give a very poor representation of the shirt colors threadless can print on, and gives the talented but unexperienced designers a disadvantage to more seasoned Threadless users who know about the Flickr pool and flash templates. The bar has been raised, and I constantly see really good designs get criticized for being placed on the generic, non-realistic template.

Hi Mimi,
I'd love to see a step by step simulated process printing of a tee (on a dark color with a white base and on a light color with no base). Most think it's like 4 color process, but it's not, and there's confusion out there. Maybe add it to the specialty printing PDF.

Something like or hopefully better than this or or this

Thanks for asking, cheers!

In short, Threadless would be doing a kind service to all the community by supplying better model pics, at the very least encouraging new users to submit on something besides White, black, navy, or (ick) light blue.

Something that would be really cool would be a little tour video for new users. It could give some tips to newbs and point out everything that the Threadless website offers. I didn't even know that blogs existed until after I started frequenting the site more regularly, which was like 2 years after I initially joined.

i want more mimails - no really... I mean it

also - it would be great if the submission kit included a comprehensive sizing template - that showed the relation of the print are to the different sized shirts. All broken down by screen type:standard, large, oversize, ultraoversize, belt etc.

this would make everyones life so much butter.
also - more model shots from threadstaff - it has been a while since they gave us new material.

Also more staff models, maybe in all the different color possibilities for shirts.

All these suggestions are really cool. I know if I'd had some kind of guide telling me about the Flickr photos or more photos in the TL Kit (with more variety of the Tee colours), then maybe I wouldn't have got slammed in my first submissions....then again I could have just photoshoped them like i do now ;P

I think some people havent quite understood what an artist program is, its not suggestions to improve the site.
Santo76

Great sugestions... mostly the Mimails ones. They are starting to sound as an urban legend...

I think some techniques tutorials, printing process descriptions, better templates, staff shots, etc... won't hurt anybody.

Also it would be great, for example, other than flash... to be able to upload 3 o 4 jpgs when you upload a design as alternate views... I've seen other sites doing this... and it's totally cool... even threadcakes has it.

If you need help to put together some tutorials or templates... you can count on me, I'd really love to help you.

It's a pleasure to meet you and to know you are real, not like these annoying unicorns...

As Artist Programs, I mean anything to support, inspire, and help our artist community out: school curriculum programs, other opportunities, and even tutorials and templates and improving the site.

It covers a gamut of things! Any and all ideas and suggestions are welcome!

Thanks Santo76! :)

Some of the the tutorials i learn on are on video (industrial designer)...so it would be cool if you could get one of the more talented theadless artists to film and present how they thumbnail.....to convert files step by step (yes they are out there already but you have to pay to get the good stuff).
seeing it done live helps allot since reading is confusing at times.

Make them fun!!!

Also, something that I think would be really cool and would help out some of the newer and ever veteran artists/Threadless members would be to do like a "design process" kind of thing from willing Threadless alumni. :) It could be paired with their interview maybe? It would be so cool to see the work process of the alumni and I know Alex gets asked a lot, even though he's posted a couple process blogs before.
