That's such a dad thing to do, though. They'll laugh at something, then kill the moment by explaining exactly why it was so funny. Then we all stand there staring blankly at each other while shuffling our feet, waiting for the awkward moment to end. Only my dad doesn't do that, because he's cool.

My dad definitely can, but my mum is hopeless at it. She'll tell a joke, and then explain why it's hilarious so that it isn't anymore. 'Oh, ha, the joke is so funny, because he's bald and it looks like a bowling ball. That's why it's so funny!' Thanks, mum.

My uncle's even worse. When he tells a joke, he goes off on tangents and ends up talking incessantly about the war. 'A man walks into a bar... You know, soldiers had to walk from town to town protecting everyone, sometimes through the night without stopping to eat or sleep or anything. Oh, God, the horrors!' The really strange thing, he was never even in the war. He was never even in the army!
