WHY DOES EVERYONE HATE TEXT SO MUCH?! What did text ever do to you?

leave the text alone. in so many cases, where text is lending so much to the design for non-threadless people who won't know the clever title of the shirt, I see people..

"ohh it would be soooo goood if you lost the text. text is so lame, we need to make up a new word for lame. pyeah."

die.

those that do not know how to use it have no choice but to fear it and of course that feeling is usually masked by scorn.

Text raped me one day while I was innocently sitting in a backstreet alley.

That's what text did to me.

Don't ever defend it.

You make me sick.

it has nothing to do with text isn't lame. text itself isn't lame. (i'm a fan of typography.)

sometimes it's just unnecessary. sometimes you can tell a good design froom a bad one if the person can tell exactly what it is without text reinforcing it.

text is not always bad. but it usually is. it often takes away from the design rather than adding to it. And sometimes it's redundant.

You're already two steps away from being a walking billboard with some of these designs, I don't need the extra shove text provides.

text is usually quite lame.

the first time I ordered a shirt from here, they sent me the wrong one.. it was that design of an airport arrivals board saying 'delayed' on everything except 'depression'.

I wouldnt be caught dead in that whiner-crap.

I sent it back post-haste.

The problem with relying on text to spell out your punchline is that if you need it there, it isn't a joke that's good for a shirt. It's good for a one-off cartoon or something of similar ilk.

And you've been here one day. Calm down.

Text requires thinking, which is apparently not in high approval around here.

JUST KIDDING GUYS, you know I love you. Text requires a good deal more persistence and skill to do well. Simple small things can easily ruin a text based design, to say nothing of the vast temptation of all the awful free fonts. As a result the overwhelming majority of text in design submitted here is terrible and as a reaction the community is very apprehensive of the whole thing. Dilligent designers will turn that around, but it will take time.
