Threadless

green-means-go aka Green means go is 30.65 years old, has been a member since August 18, 2005, has scored 4,307 submissions, giving an average score of 2.21, helping 42 designs get printed.
Am I the only one here that wishes Threadless would just keep their general submission contest and do away with "_____ Loves Threadless"?
I think the competitions are kind of a bummer anyway, seeing as if you're not a first-day submitter, by the time the contest is over, people are so tired of the same theme from every shirt that the votes probably don't go as well, regardless (or irregardless, if you're the President) of the quality of the shirt.
I don't even submit designs, I just vote (due to being artisically-impaired), but the Loves Threadless competitions make me weary.

I actually really like the Loves Threadless designs. With the URB competition I was getting tired of similiar designs but it just makes it that much better when there's a completely original design. Plus it ups the stakes as far as prizes go and I think the different judges might give a chance to designers who make great designs but don't necessarily click with the Threadless crowd.

too true, the part about submitting at the end of the contest, that's what happened to me for the URB contest

but I enjoy the loves threadless contests, it changes things up a little and offers winning designers additional recognition beyond the threadless community.

I got tired of scoring some of them too. But if they stick with ambiguous themes it's okay. Computer Arts had really nice winners, SXSW has been pretty good so far.

what about having all the entries due for the contest by a certain date... and then present them all for scoring for one week.

And that way as submitters we know that for a week we won't see regular submissions. And you won't be tired of seeing the same idea, because no one will really have a chance to play off someone elses idea?

I dunno.

Just thinkin.

A lot of them are rather lacking in my opinion.

i love thje loves threadless comps, but for the sake of people who don't want to vote on them maybe they could be seperated from the regular submissions. i think it would be a shame not to vote on them though. some of the best shirts here are among the Loves Threadless designs.

having them all at once would be overwhelming espcially how the system works, what i find annoying is that when I score a submission it goes onto a random submmission, this would be fine if it were in the love competition but its anoying cause often its not. Imagine how pissed off you'd be if like me your trying to score all the submissions and getting like 200 in one day and having to go back through the pages to the love competition each time.

They're occasionally good, but I think there are too many of them and they could afford to be shorter. I felt like I was being used for market research and forced to see advertising when there were so many at once, which is a shame since Threadless used to feel like a design community. They also seem a bit pointless since the winners frequently received really low scores - why vote if it doesn't even matter?

well you're automatically entered to the normal threadless competition as well (i believe??) so thats where the votes can matter.

I think its great actually

and from an artist perspective, stuff like winning competitions looks GREAT on a resume.

plus theres some nice prizes, especially for the SXSW

though I agree that some stuff gets a bit repepetive

i just can't believe how long it takes the clients to make thier choice. if i was having a shirt designed i'd be so excited that i'd pick my winner before voting even closed.

i think the loves threadless comps are a great break from the regular competition. only when it comes to the loves threadless competitions the one thing i find annoying are the number of subs that seemingly forget the highlighted box with the following, "The purpose is to create a design INSPIRED by the theme. The design is not required to say "Shout Out Louds", "used" or "eisley, room noises" on it... in fact, we'd prefer it does not." It boggles me to see the number of subs that do just what they ask you not to do.

so much the better for those of us who read the rules if a few chumps submit totally wrong designs. i have no problem with narrowing down the competition.

i wonder if it isnt more egomaniacal, like the mad scientist saying i'll submit the best design ever and feature the things you don't want to show you that it can be done and be done well... (sinister laugh) and of course it comes out a pile of shit... yeah i bet that never happens

I have only seen 3 submissions from any Loves Threadless competition. The Fly Man and Venus Fly Trap Woman in The Used Loves Threadless, some robot one with a button for the current one and My Pet Human (which is printed, of course.)

Other than that, I have voted all others 0.
