I can appreciate the work that went into this (the letters have a lot of detailing), but it didn't score very well in submissions. I thought threadless was about what the people wanted?

In essence it should be about what the people want, because that's what will sell, but at the end of the day it's completely up to the threadless staff. If they want to take a risk, they will, and it's usually works out for them (look at Robsoul's "I came to dance" and et. al's "all's unfair" which both got shit scores). Also, I'm sure there are plenty shirts out there that you gave a really low score that if presented with in the catalog, you might actually buy.

If I gave it a low score, that means I didn't like it and therefore wouldn't buy it if I saw it in the catalog. It just stands to reason.

But hey, if you like this shirt, more power to you for seeing something in it that I don't.

I'm here because the shirts are awesome and browsing the submissions is a good way to waste time. I have no talent in the T-shirt design area, so I doubt you'll be seeing any submissions from me.
