I posted about this in the videogame thread, but I think it warrants a blog of its own. Basically, Tim Schafer of Day of the Tentacle, Grim Fandango and Full Throttle fame, alongside Ron Gilbert, of Monkey Island fame, last night pitched a kickstarter project to make a brand new point-n-click adventure game much like the old LucasArts classics, using modern technology.
Long story short, they asked for $400,000 in 34 days, and they raised that in little over 8 hours. At the time of writing, they're already well on track to double that, and likely to raise in excess of. $1,000,000. This is extremely exciting for me, not least for being such a fan of the point n click genre, but also because it's being funded directly through kickstarter, it cuts out publishers, and therefore a ridiculous mark up pricing. This could be HUGE for the future of gaming and entertainment in general. Here is the donation page, if you want to donate and watch the progress.
