Take the TAł test here. If you get an IQ of more than 124 with that test, you're considered INCREDIBLY brainy. Good luck.

what kind of super intelligence does one need to construct such a test that determines a person individual intelligence?

these tests were what the knights templar found under mt solomon, i know it.

Bah - I did a 3rd year subject on psychometrics and questionnaire design and analysis last year for my psychology degree. I received a high distinction (and one of the top marks in the class). I could write an essay on why that test was complete crap. So don't take it personally if you didn't do well.

Regardless of whether IQ is a valid construct and debates about what IQ tests actually measure, this is NOT a valid IQ test.

Well, I got 147 on their 'normal' IQ test. Then I did the other one, and got 113. Which, I think, proves that their system is a bit wank

Uh, the idea that there is a "hard" and a "normal" test totally proves how invalid these are. They should be scaled, or some shit.

Sweet, Beth have you seen the in my language video on youtube?

It was made by an autistic woman, who then uses a computer voice to explain why she is doing the things shes doing and explains it in a very articulate way.

skip the first three minutes its just her doing odd stuff.

I read about her in an article by wired magazine, this type of test is a serrious problem for people with autism because it assumes that they have no level of intelligence but this type of test is standard through out the world.

according to that article theres an autistic civil rights movement starting.

Hadley, its a pretty amazing magazine I've found it really helpful for writing an essay I've been working on at the moment, the impact of new technologies on the media. Plus its downright entertaining.

As for your friends thats awesome and from what I've read the reason their so smart is because they have aspergers because their minds are more specialised.

Whatever, the point is I totally was reading Wired last night.

Sigh, when we step back far enough, no one matters. But no one exists in such a scale, and no one can function in that mindset so I think it's a pretty dumb way to measure somethings worth. I mean, it's valid, but it's irrelevant.

@tont

--------

I'm not too sure what that means, but I think its irrelevance depends on your personal standpoint. For you, clearly it is an irrelevance. For me, not so.

And for shirtflirt: intelligence does not equate lasting fame and remembrance, the two do not correlate. Galileo was remembered principally for his opposition to the catholic church and subsequent house arrest. Marie Antoinette another equally famous historical figure is remembered for saying something particularly stupid. Some of the most intelligent people in the history of the world will go unremembered along with everyone else. The reason your uncle Ted will not be remembered (outside his family and friends) has more to do with the fact that he wasn't in a position to deny a country food, than the fact he wasn't a genius of some sort. I'll venture he was better off for it, too.

-------------

I never said people didn't matter, they do. And it's not that our talents don't matter, more that it's worth getting upset over any perceived deficiency. Whether you believe that your body's dying is the end of your life, is another matter.

(I'm not trying to take a side in this argument, just play devil's advocate)

Well the idea that no one matters, or that our talents don't matter, because everyone ends up dead to me seems pretty....well it seems like a cop out.

You could view it that way, and that is a valid perspective on such an idea. But you could also consider the idea that we are all forgotten to be a massive freedom. If what you do now will not matter, that means you are free to live the life you dream rather than wasting time living up to other people's expectations etc since it will all be forgotten anyway.

Or maybe I'm just spouting drivel :P

This is funny because this is basically what my giant english paper is on. I think that it's both depressing and freeing because such a point of view is so irrelevant that it can't have a real impact on us. I'm not really trying to argue a point, I don't think, because I don't think that that perspective is flawed or untrue, it just doesn't interest me because it doesn't have much of a practical application. I'm all about practicality, baby.

lucretia, you keep saying it's irrelevant, but it is relevant. many people won't cop to the fact that death is in fact a great motivator. and many people use death to create their ego and to 'live for ever'. so, the theory that we won't last but our 'legacy' continues is quite relevant. it's not a cop out either, cos, well, everybody dies.
