Big Trouble In Little China. Because it's one of the most entertaining movies ever from so many perspectives. One of my good friends and I at work when we see each other for the first time each day do the hand symbol the Yellow bandanna ninjas aka good guys do to one another.

The Shining. It's always fun on a desert island to watch someone slowly going insane and succumbing to hidden evil in an environment completely different than the one you are in, say, a giant hotel.

Waterworld. Because this is also one of the most entertainingly horrible movies in existence. It thinks so big and so grand to such a wrong-headed conclusion that I have no choice but to be blown away by it.

Synecdoche, NY. Just in case I want a modern world brain-fucking that can be watched a million times and completely convince you each time it's about something else entirely.

The Blue Brothers. You gotta have something for a musical interlude besides Jon Carpenter's self-made synthy 80's-scapes.

blues brothers and big trouble, without a question

I'll let you know whether I also choose the thing, 2001, fifth element, the shining, clockwork orange, alien, or starship troopers once it comes time to leave for the island

some of those are my favorite movies ever, but a lot of them would be downers if I was hopelessly trapped on a desert island and waiting for my own lonely death

Tekkon Kinkreet

another copy of Tekkon Kinkreet in case the first one gets scratched

2001: A Space Odyssey - so I can spook myself into madness (Hal's death scene is to me one of the most haunting film scenes of all time, I can literally feel his mind going. Uhghrghghhhhh.)

Synecdoche, NY

The Shining (actually the cover would be The Shining, but inside the box would be The Matrix)
