Sup dudes! In case anyone is curious, after about a month and a half I won’t be around a whole lot for the next couple years since my new home will be the beautiful country of Namibia, and from my understanding the internet doesn’t work that great in most places over there. I'm hardly leaving Threadless though, so this isn't a goodbye blog at all. I will try to pop in every month or so if I can, but if I don’t seeya guys around for awhile after that, I just want you to know I love all you dudes/dudettes for serious!
This means I’m gonna miss the next few meetups which I am honestly really really bummed about more than I can possibly explain in words, but hopefully I can catch you guys in 2013! If the world isn’t over yet.
:D!
And because I haven’t said it enough, you guys are special. You all got the touch, bros.
Todow, rumor tells of a mythical beast named Festa who lurks around these parts. I'm sure it's just an old wive's tale, but they say his beard is a holy entity of it's own.
Nambia? NObia dude, we NEEDZ you here to be next in line for Charles Festa's beard if Festa's beard can not perform its duties or falls out!
Best of luck man, you are as talented with painting people's souls with happiness as you are painting shirts with yo' art skillz.
ps- This means you won't be at this year's meetup, will ya? Dang, I was gonna give you an honorary underwear brohug that only JeffeyG has had bestowed upon him.
Why are you going?
Also, have you taken malaria tablets? (Please say yes. It's the worst. Also, if you get it you can't give blood.) Or are you okay with getting it? And do you have money for bribes?
Mya, I'm moving because I joined the Peace Corps, and that's where they're sending me. I haven't taken malaria tablets yet, but from my understanding I will constantly receive them there, I'm not sure yet what kind though (the weekly or the daily). Hopefully I don't get it, that would suck bigtime! Also, I will probably take a little cash but not much, I don't plan on succumbing to many bribes unless it's a last resort!
Awesome! If you're with them you're probably pretty safe in terms of Malaria (I'm sure you'll have bed nets) and bribes (their budgets will include those maybe not officially but they will).
Take lots of pictures for us won't you?!
Haya, I didn't take any when I was there and I only got malaria 4, maybe 5 times in 10 years. If you have a good bed net, bug spray and you don't go out much after sun down you'd probably be pretty safe. Having people who can look after you if you get it and a doctor (that's trained not a village healer) are good things for if you do get it though.
Yeah I'm hoping to not be too much of a tourist most of the time, but taking pictures is definitely a must. I just hope I'll be able to upload them somehow!
And Biosam, my supposed assignment is to teach English and also a bit of HIV/AIDS awareness (the latter which is completely new for me. Heck, the whole thing will be new for me!)
Mya, you were living in Namibia? Or somewhere else in Africa? :o!!!
Also yeah Peace Corps is supposed to have some of the best medical care I will ever have, so even though I'm incredibly scared of other stuff, I'm not too worried about physical ailments, even if I should be.
you're moving to africa? dude so cool. if we ever get a break in our schedules at the same time we should hang out, preferably down in my land where there is less malaria. lols.
I was gonna force you to stop everything you were doing and teach me afrikaans before I leave! I hope I used the right e-mail adresss :( If you want me to send it again you can e-mail me at my address.
thanks brian! I am gonna miss eatin' yo goodies at the meetup.
I'm will be a pokopokoman forever, omair. That's something in both our hearts that nobody can ever take away.
where are you gonna be in namibia? the few places i've visited preferred tswana or english over afrikaans. but i'd love to help! unfortunately i don't have a lot of time to be on the internets lately but my aim screenname is on my profile and sometime we can talk about skype-ing or something. :)

I, uh, grew up in West Africa.
Lucky. I was pretty well looked after but I was still a super sick kid. Anyway, I'm glad to hear that. I'm sure we'll all feel better knowing you'll be well looked after medically.
Hope you have a rocking time dude! I hear Namibia is lovely this time of year. Also, when you come back can you bring me a lion in a pokeball? I want to see what it looks like after it's evolved. Apparantly it's called a Lion-O and is really rare. K, thanks, bye.

Ahhhh, I thought I knew you were from around there but I wasn't sure exactly where. I'm sorry you had malaria that many times, jeez! I don't even know what it would be like, I'm scared to look up the symptoms and how long it lasts.
Bert, I will do this but only if you trade me for a lvl. 60 Kiwi.

liz I really don't know yet, and I don't think I'm going to know for awhile. I had read that there are tons of different languages over there and that while a lot of people don't really prefer Afrikaans, it's still spoken by the majority. . . but I really don't know anything. Maybe I won't use it as much as I thought :0
anyway yeah it would be cool to skype sometime, I have to remember my username though I haven't gone on it in forever!
I used to talk about it more though since i don't it's hard to know if you're imagining it. I know. Don't worry about it! I survived so that's all that matters.
Do you want me to tell you?
if you want to, I'd be interested yes. I'd like to be as prepared as I can before I leave, even if it's not very much! If you don't want to talk about it though that's cool too, I'm just too lazy to look stuff up on wikipedia now :)
don't let people scare you. i intern up in botswana every year and the land is lovely and most of the people are friendly and have so much to teach you. there is a lot of culture that is misunderstood but really fantastic.
