I would imagine only staffers would really be able to answer this question, unless some other of you guys have inside info in the Threadless world or something. . .

But yes, does Threadless have any plans in the works for introducing any new specialty printing methods/techniques/inks anytime in the future? I understand that they have given us the opportunity to work with so many cool techniques and processes already and I am forever thankful to them for that, but surely there must be even more cool stuff to be able to do with clothing? Some things I would personally LOVE to see:

belt-printed hoodies
I was just revealed to me today with the unveiling of Elephas Maximus that Threadless cannot currently belt-print hoodies, which I think is a shame as hoodies are my favorite article of clothing to wear and belt-prints offer some of the most unique and creative opportunities for crazy cool designs IMO.

patchwork
this would be kind of like embroidery, but with patches of different clothes or fabrics sewn in to form shapes of part of the designs instead. I think this would be a pretty cool addition to the Threadless arsenal of printing methods as I have seen it on other shirts and I think it looks pretty freaking sweet.

this one might be a little out there, but

jeans (or other pants)
Has Threadless ever thought about branching out into desinging specialty jeans? I mean c'mon, EVERYBODY wears jeans. I'm sure this question has probably been posed before, and it would probably take a lot of time, but I think Threadless designers could go crazy imaginitive coming up with all kinds of cool new and unique designs for jeans. My sister recently bought a pair of jeans with a frog screenprinted on them and they look AWESOME.

So yeah, to sum it up do you guys have any of these or any other cool new printing methods planned out for future use by Threadless? Or if you do is it top secret and are you guys not allowed to talk about it?

I'm all for belt-print hoodies and appliques as long as they're done well.

I'm not into jeans, but khaki pants and im all set! Maybe for select pants?

I'd really like to see more designs on polos for that classy kidz look when i go to fancy affairs and i still have that marshmallow unicorn poop tee on such fancy material with a lapel.

Seriously though, I don't know cost-effective it would be but I would love some tasteful prints on button-up shirts.

Like this silver print... certainly Threadless designers could do something better:

I second the polos, would make it more wearable. I loved that submitted design of the alligator eating the polo player or something? Would look great on a polo shirt.

polos would also be an awesome addition, methinks.

Haha... Good stuff.

We are working on the belt printing long sleeves issue... It's really tough because of the variety of sizes that we have. Some just actually don't fit on the machines and folding the sleeves in just adds a whole new set of issues.

Appliques, are a possiblity... but the design would have to really need them. They are pricey and can look real cheesy and heavy when applied wrong.

As for other products... You never know... Keep your eyes peeled at nakedandangry.com, and why not make some kick ass tileing patterns while you are there.

wow J-Ray, that's a damned cool style...yeah, anything done on another site like that you know the Threadless artists and staff could come up with a better idea/cooler way to print than done elsewhere, and that's just the troof not blatant ass-smooching.

Oh, and i also wore my Attack of the Mole People tee to the Phillies game last Thursday and I was really disappointed it didn't have the built-in ability to stop sunburn. It more than made up for it with being so damned cool i was looking at it upside down for half the game on my chest and the fact it's orange, but not TOO brightly orange.

My most complimented shirts are a short sleeve button up shirt and a short sleeve polo that have prints on them. Both are designer shirts but neither from Threadless ....

Belt printing.

As in... printing on actual belts.

Also, anti-gravity ink.

I would love to see polos, especially short sleeved! I would request having guys style polos and girls style. Jeans would be awesome too, though I know I will never be skinny enough to even dream of wearing the sizes I know would be offered.
