So, I just submitted a revision of one of my designs (That is so '06). Lots of people liked it, but a number said they'd like it more if I changed the way the girl in the picture was drawn.
No problem, I thought, and I came up with a version that I thought would be a bigger hit based on those comments. You can check out the new version here. I thought revisions weren't a problem. I've seen lots of designs get altered and go through the voting process before. A recent one involved a light bulb or something. But I just a an email saying that my revision was denied, as "changing your design a little bit based on comments, we still treat it as a duplicate. If the concept didn't go over well the first time around, just try something new." Now, this was news to me. I had redrawn the body of one of the 2 characters in the image, which was the key sticking point for people. But instead of doing revisions, I was told to just move on. That part I'm fine with. What gets me is if revisions are being discouraged, WHY DO WE HAVE MEMBER COMMENTS? If I can't improve my work to meet what people want to see, what is the point in hearing what they want? My cynical side wonders if it's just Threadless trying to just keep us hooked into their web 2.0 "community" or something, as the feeling of interactivity is part of what makes this place neat. But if that interactivity is just for show, what's the deal? I could be completely off here. If anyone has any light to shed on this, please share. I'm just feeling stumped as to what is going on here, and how to make it work.
By popular request, I've made a number of changes to my earlier submission, "That is so '06." I just sent the new one in, which has a few improvements, based off of people's comments. Aside from changing the shading and such, the big change is in the wardrobe of the fair, adoring lady. Who knew that Threadless fans were also such corset enthusiasts?
So now we have this version that has something for everyone. Take a look at the higher resolution version right here, and thanks in advance for your $5! |
