Threadless.com Submission - The Perils Of Game Fishing

So I've noticed a few wrist-slappings around Threadless on account of naked or semi-naked bosoms in designs. I myself have just an outline of a naked nork, without a nipple, as I thought this might bypass the issue, but I wonder...

It's so not offensive, the only people entitled to take offence on this are mermaids

No, I think the picture's too beautiful to warrant negativity over nudity.

Phew! Well, here's hoping the Mermaids Against Objectification group doesn't picket Threadless anytime soon.

Got to agree with Ady there.

The image is fine and dandy as it is - good job. I wonder when the naked form suddenly became abhorent to civilised society?

I say more naked things! Well, apart from the lads from Dirty Sanchez - they need more clothes...

People seem to mostly object when the boobs seem unneeded, when they look like an afterthought or just a petty excuse to look at boobies.

Your picture definetely needs them or else you get a ton of people bitching about your need for an anatomy class.

There was a famous "case" here in Melbs when my ex-uni's student admin banned a performance from a band whose singer did a naked cartwheel; they said her nudity would encourage violence against women. Uhh... whatthehell? They also conveniently forgot to deal with the fact that the *male* guitarist was also naked, but apparently penises don't inspire rape, boobs do.

:|

Anyway, I say boosies - in the right context, as you said, R Sizzle - are a-okay!

Here's a girl agreeing with you, your design is great and not offensive in the least. Well, as long as you're not a mermaid <3

Great job!

not offensive in the least!! and a great design.

people are idiots. seems no one leaves decent comments (her hands look fine, as does her eye). honestly, i don't understand why people comment at all if all they are objecting to something for their own personal reason and not for any design-related issue. ex. i am not so much about guns. would never wear one on a shirt (and if i never see another red, white & black design with a gun and a rose... sigh). but do i comment on every sub with a gun? hell no. what's the point? that's my personal issue. i just throw in my vote and keep going. many people happen to like guns. just like many people happen to like breasts. people should just vote and shut up instead of leaving pointless puritannical comments.

Ace. I guess, too, in the "gratuitous" scale, they're not that far out.

I mean, if they were Pammy sized, I might have a problem on my hands.

final score 3.06?! that's hardly a slap on the wrist. well done!

i'll take as many boobs on a shirt as you can be bothered to draw.

Are naked mer-boosies *really* "offensive"?

See, this is why the world is crazy (not because of you, TFMd, mind) - WHY are breasts " offensive"? Cue: sociopolitical discourse...
EclipseII
EclipseII on Oct 16 '05 at 2:29am
I really don't get why breasts are offensive either. It'd just be like if way back when people started wearing clothes people just decided "Hey, these things could be dangerous and very offensive, we'd better hide them"
TFMdesign
TFMdesign on Oct 16 '05 at 2:30am
personally i dont think they are offensive but people tend to look at art in the wrong perspective. the boobs arent supposed to represet pornagraphy but people tend to think it is in fact pornagraphy making it "unacceptable". i personally think it is wrong to walk around with pornagraphy on your shirt unless its at the expense of art. for an example take this shirt, id wear it, its beautiful art but its somthing completley different to walk around with a photo out of smutx.net in public. there will always be confusion in or society between art and porn. the only thing all this leads to is we live in an ignorant world.

holy shit look at all those p's in a row. thats crazy.
clem82
clem82 on Oct 16 '05 at 2:45am
P-p-p-personally (sorry), I agree. I think it's all up to the context that they're shown in - this is if we're talking art and imagery.

If I'm on the beach with my bikini top off, people better deal with it. They're just breasts and there's nothing "offensive" about them, just about people's weird arse screwed up ideas of what's going to warp their children's minds.
