I'd love some feedback on this - if its the kind of thing threadless kids go for these days and any suggestions on the design itself. Be harsh - i'm not happy with it yet and need some suggestions on how to get it to really pop. :D

It's got really nice detail and a good arrangement, but I'm unable to read what it says.

It took a bit of time for me to figure out what it said. Looks great though--I'm liking the fact that you seem to have modeled the guitar after a Jazzmaster and not a Strat, which is basically the default.

I came here to offer my services, then realized that this blog is totally not what I thought it was!

Anyway, I agree with the others - The text is illegible and needs a re-do and also an exclamation mark.

Also, more colours.

I started by recognizing the "eleven" though and read backwards so maybe the upper portion is what needs some tweeking

Maybe more space between the words and the lines, make more obvious where each world starts and ends.

And I'm not a fan of the lighter gray you used, seems to tone down the design more tha it should. Have you tried a barely saturated green or something?

yea i think more colours too - i haven't designed anything for threadless since they updated the amount of colours you can have.

thanks for going into specifics 'againstbound.' i think spreading it may help a little, and i think maybe i'll re-jig 'up to' cos i think thats probably the hardest bit to work out.

barely saturated green (is there a pantone colour for that?) - an interesting suggestion - i'll give it a shot. i do think overall the colours need to be looked at too, the grey's are kind of killing it like you mentioned.

as for lil ol me, working full time as graphic designer still. have barely any free time for 'bumming' on threadless and doing my own designs anymore (but thats getting me down so i plan on changing that)

in my immediate life i just had awesome bacon and eggs (my egg was in the shape of a heart too which made it taste super good!) ...and now i'm craving burrito's.

i just noticed a bit that bugs me a little, might have been mentioned already. the neck recedes into the distance but the lead passing behind it remains the same thickness so by comparison it looks huge in the background. if you could slim down the lead a little i'd have no other problem with it.

Not sure I can offer anything that hasn't already been said, definitely think some work on the spacing between the words would help with legibility a lot.

I think i'll stay true to the 'this is spinal tap' reference and keep it sea foam green, but still ad in another colour or two to lift it more.
