I decided not to put the dragon and Saturn on the pants because it looked too busy in the first sketch that I did... but it's cool to see another Zeppelin geek that actually knows that those things go there.
My opinion on the subject is not based so much on what I see on stage so much as what I have designed for outdoor events such as the Renaissance Faire, and what I have noticed when taking photos of people for my portfolios. On stage is not the real world, but if the costume designer doesn't take into account the actor's coloring, it can be very hard for me as the makeup designer to make the actor look good. Theatrical lighting can help, but if you put the person in an appropriate color to begin with, it makes the whole thing easier. Lighting is a whole different story too. If someone is lit badly... it's a mess. For example, The Wiz is a very difficult show to light because dark skinned people look terrible in green light, so how do you create the Emerald City on stage? But I'm getting carried away here...
"i find that being a paleskinned redhead means that no color compliments and so i have the freedom to look as ugly as i want each and every day"
Same here. I look good in blues and greens. It depends on your eye color. I have gray/blue-ish/green-ish eyes, so I tend to wear those colors a lot. I also look good in dark purple/plum colors.
By the way, I designed this because I thought it would be a funny idea, not as a protest to Red Octane. I love guitar hero, and I used Page because he is has been known to use the double SG often.
