So I finally got my 3 shirts yesterday, one being "We are made of Carbon" and since I bought it during the Mid-term sale I received some nifty #2 Threadless pencils. (SWEET) ..as I unfold my tees, I notice a big yellow line through the middle of the print on this particular shirt!! In the mail, the yellow from the pencil had rubbed off onto the print!! NOO!!!! I am highly disappointed but am going to keep it and pray it will come out. If anyone has any "tricks" to get it out, please let me know!

This could be REALLY SHITTY...

So many orders were placed during the sale, all getting pencils, correct?

chopstyx
chopstyx on Oct 06 '05 at 9:22am
Yes i believe so. When I took it out, the pencils were folded in between the shirts (like a taco).

Threadless Crew needs to look into this...

I have one shirt coming with my friend's order.

Well, if I can get a new one that would be superfantastic but it would have to be reprinted.. I wonder how many more are out there....

Oh good, it wasn't just me. I got my "Evolution" shirt in the mail today and it has a little bit of yellow on the coffins. I just assumed it'd come out in the wash. It's just paint rubbed off from pencils, not like ink that accidentally got printed on there.

bullocks!! Sucks to hear that too...There has got to be some way to get it out! I tried scrubbing it with a damp cloth but no luck.
Skipper6745

Have you washed it yet? I'm wondering if that will be simple enough to solve it. Oh man, I'm hoping so.
chopstyx
chopstyx on Oct 06 '05 at 4:09pm
Nope. Haven't washed it yet. With my luck I would shrink it. :( It fits just right over my chest so.....

Mine came a couple days ago. The design wasn't lined up right and it was rotated a bit clockwise, probably because it's a circle, but no yellow because I didn't get it on sale. Hope it comes off yours though.

At least is just some yellow stains and not a finger or something like that

THIS HAPPENED WITH MINE AS WELL!

I'm really pissed about it. I love the shirt and I want it, but I e-mail customer service and they said there is no more larges to exchange it for. *grr* I'm not sure what to do. I'll likely just keep the silly thing. *pissy*

Yeah, same thing happened with mine! Incidentally, the shirt that got the worst of it was my We Are Made of Carbon as well.

maybe they should just not stick pencils in with shirts.

chopstyx on Oct 07 '05 at 7:44am
well the pencils were just for the midterm sale correct?? I took a pic of it last nite and it looks terrible but I'll still keep it cuz it rocks. It adds some flavor to the shirt! :)

I think a simple answer is that they put a plastic baggie around the shirts in your shipment. Most places do when you order apparel and it would not be that big an expense if they order like 10 million of them in bulk. Hehe.

But yeah, baggies. COnsidering they basically ship them in nothing more than a reinforced paper bag, I think it's a good idea.

That is sad to hear... Where is the suggestion box at???!!!!
Pico
Pico on Oct 07 '05 at 3:07pm
That seems odd, I wonder why the pencils' paint rubbed off onto the shirt? Hand wash it in cold water and let it air dry (to avoid shrinking), that SHOULD remove the marks...If not, try washing it normally in your washing machine; if it shrinks, send it back and explain that the shirt was stained /and/ shrunk in the wash ;oP They should accept the return, most stores do.

I should be getting my shirts in a few days. I've never ordered from threadless before, but I'm quite surprised that they don't package shirts in baggies, or at least put the pencils in a bag or between some paper. Ah well, if one of my shirts is ruined I'll just return it.

My We Are Made of Carbon t-shirt also had a yellow line across the front. Paint thinner worked to get it off, and didn't seem to hurt the design at all.

the paint should come off pretty easily - if it doesn't come off in the wash, I would try scrubbing a little with some dish soap and water (I know it sounds too simple, but dish soap and/or seltzer manage to get practically everything out) rubbing alcohol and vaseline work to get lipstick out, which is sooort of similar to pencil paint so it might work.
