I found a comment by iDan on someones sub that said "stop spamming" and it got me thinking.

I looked at my recent submission and realized that I'd been responding to folks comments quite often (honestly not considering the fact that every time I did, it was bumping my sub)... and then of course thought "oh crap."

I wish there were a way to respond to folks on an individual basis (like Threadless Mail or something). I don't like letting comments go unresponded to if I have something to say but it's obvious that the Threadless community has a pretty good idea of how much is 'too much' as far as bumping your own subs (consciously or not)

So Threadless... get on the Threadless Mail :) haha.
And sorry to all those people out there who got annoyed by the 10 or so comments out of 43 that are my own :p

i don't see the problem with bumping your own sub if you've got something important to say, and i don't like the potential for people to abuse a private messaging system. i think the fact that everything is out in the open here is one of the reasons the threadless blogs are so good.

Anyways, Nathan... I'm not 100% sure where I stand on this whole thing.



I was just going to say that this was a t-shirt company primarily, and then an online community, however, that's not how Jake and Jeffery articulate this whole thing. They talk of SkinnyCorp's ventures as internet community driven websites (of course, Threadless is included).



So, that leaves me on your side, I just decided :).



The only other conflict I can imagine is this: SkinnyCorp also runs yayhooray.com, a pure internet forum. That website has all the things that I want out of the blogs, minus the people that I have grown to love: editing of posts (geewally is right), deleting of posts, messaging of others, etc.



So, yeah. Gimme all those things, folks!

I wouldn't consider bumping your own sub "spamming".



If you went and left messages about your sub on everyone else's design, then that's what really gets people annoyed. It also works against them because I will score that person much, much lower just for annyoing the heck out of me.



If we had a private message system you'd have to delete 50 "STP me!" requests everyday, it might be worse spam than regular e-mail. : )
