I was just reading Ms Lucretia Mott's blags on vegan foodz, and now I'm all, d00d, I am unhealth.

When I'm trying to be healthy, my diet is something along the lines of:

Breakfast: Muesli with a banana and milk.
Lunch: A salad containing lettuce, tomatoes, carrots and anything else vegetable-y in the house. I then get super hungry because vegetables are not filling and generally eat some form of:
Afternoon snack: Smoothie with banana, honey, ice, skim milk.
Dinner: Whatever my mother has prepared, which varies considerably. Her specialties, however, are various stir fries and pastas.

When I am not being healthy I buy things at uni during the day at whim, ranging from rice+some form of stir fry, sandwiches (always overpriced), stuff from the on-campus vegan restaurant (usually rice and a curry). I also have a tendency to get involved with skim frappucinos (because hey, if you get skim milk and no cream, it stops all the sugar from killing you, right?) from the coffee places on campus, and muffins. Oh, muffins.

I always drink at least four cups of strong white tea each day, or I end up killing people. I also dabble in soy lattes with fake sugar if need be.

Re: exercise, I either go to the gym a few times a week and spend about an hour and a half on the X trainer and treadmill, or I go 'Fuck that shit, I'm too busy' and don't exercise.

So, like, make me healthy. Give me awesome healthy food ideas, and force me to exercise. I like plans that I can cross off.

I feel the same way. I've got the exercise thing down; I usually walk 2 miles a day. I'm not good at the eating thing though.

wow thatīs a lot of sugar in your diet.

Start cutting one thing entirely at first say refined sugar or or bread, keep everything else the same. Stick with it for 2 weeks and then add remove something else, preferably simple carbs again like pasta for instance. Then after 2 weeks start adding them again into your diet but on very small doses. If you exercise and eat a lot of protein (one gram per pound) you will lose skinfold measurements (fat%) and wonīt lose much muscle. Good luck!

rice and beans and veggies = burritos every day. i'm not vegan, or even a very good vegetarian, but the above is pretty much my daily menu. full protein and complex carps and stuff. plus you get satisfyingly full. Apparently tacos and burritos are virtually unknown outside of the U.S. (in knew a guy from Bristol who had his first burrito in Hawaii. that's just sad.)

Hehehe usually I am like yo mike it's time for your walk. And then don't talk to him if he won't walk.

I would try to eat more fruits and veggies. I think if you bumped that up maybe your interest in refined foods would dampen. Also, lots of unsweetened tea is good...fluids in general are, in fact.

Oh my god, Montro, give up bread? Pasta? *Fear*. Am I allowed brown rice?

And Bio-bot, it's okay, we Australians are very familiar with burritos and tacos!

Regarding cutting stuff out completely: Unless you're a freak like me, someone who enjoys the pain of not being about to eat something they really, really want to eat, giving food up only leads to binges later. Like....I'm not sure I would recommend it.

However, if you do want to do that, I highly recommend telling people about it..again...this may or may not be kind of fucked up, but it's a lot easier to follow through with something when you havve the shame of other people knowing you failed as a motivator.
Mike4507
Mike4507 on Mar 16 '08 at 1:58am
Haha that's why I don't tell people when I'm thinking about doing things like that. So when I fail no one will ever know.

Lucretia Mott

You can do it!!

Also, re: binging. I ate SO much friend fake chicken today after a week of no cooked food at all. Binges definitely happen.

I need to eat less meat, especially with the whole 6.5 lbs of CO2 emmisions per cheeseburger.
Lucretia Mott
Lucretia Mott on Mar 16 '08 at 2:31am
Yeah I would definitely recommend cutting back on meat, but I'm a vegan so of course I would.

But seriously. More veggies, less everything else. Walk places. Lift weights. Drink tea.
ecky_ducky
ecky_ducky on Mar 16 '08 at 2:32am
I hardly eat meat, so I win on that front. I'd better be allowed to drink black tea. I've tried green and herbal and I just can't get into them. I get totally disappointed that they smell so delicious and taste so blah.

The secret is corn?
Lucretia Mott
Lucretia Mott on Mar 16 '08 at 2:20pm
No! Corn is like, the least healthy of the veggies.

Congrats.

I was in a book once. Well, not me, technically, my wife. And she was nude, with her eyes obscured by a black box. And it wasn't a book, it was a magazine. And it wasn't my wife, just some chick I was looking at. Whilst naked."
