Awesome. Bass guitar or the stand up variety? You should be in a chick band like me.

Here's my advice from one bass player to another.

Use your fingers, and play like you fucking mean it. No matter how fast or slow it is, just go at those strings with some authority. That, and get super-comfy with your bass. The more comfortable you'll get with it, the faster you'll pick it up. Good luck!

bass guitar :D it's very exciting . i would like to be in a band, but i don't think there's much demand for a violinist :p i play some guitar, but i don't like it enough to practice

I agree with Pifman. Picks are no good. You lose passion that way. Listin to the bassist for Primus...

Hey, you can be in a band as a vionist. I'm in a basic four-piece band, but I have a friend who plays viola and he plays with us once in a while, it's a really cool element that he adds. Look at Dave Matthews Band.

Camper Van Beethoven also has a violinist...

I played violin for five years. I'm not in the orchestra anymore but I can still play pretty well. I want an electric one :-)

Cool, an electric one! I've been asking my mom to buy me one since I was ten. They're really expensive if you're looking for good quality.. Meh, I just want one!

Homeschool Winner: I think Les Claypool might be just a TAD out of her leauge seeing as how she hasn't had one lesson yet. I say just play everything and anything you want to, just play.

Ha, I know he is, I'm just saying, if she wants to hear a bassist that has really mastered his instrument, he's one of the best. I get a little ticked when people downplay the bass and say it's boring or too easy. The bass is the soul of every band.

!!! another bassist! awesome. my advice, dont expect too much too soon. Also, your fingers are gonna hurt like a bitch but it goes away before long (blisters = no fun). lets see, early on just ry to play stuff like rage against the machine. But if you want to hear good bassists to inspire or encourage you to go on, listen to Les Claypool, Rush, Victor Wooten, Billy Sheehan, Mark King, Stu Hamm, Jean Baudin, steve bailey, marcus miller, jaco pastorious, among others. Most of those guys are soloists but theyre some of the best. Search for their stuff or i can send u some on AIM. i'll look for links to some video clips.

((sorry, im overenthusiastic about bass sometimes))
