I was just wondering what u guys (design ppl) use, like what sort of art programs do u usualy draw with. And what would u suggest someone who was just starting out with computer design...

Yeah I'm a photoshop/illustrator man, flash can be handy for some cheeky vector drawing though.

Everything usually starts with pencil on paper. Then it goes to Photoshop, Illustrator, or InDesign. I used to be a big QuarkXPress fan, but they dragged their feet so long on upgrades, I switched to InDesign and haven't had a need to go back.

it depends on what you're working on. If you're doing a logo or something that is line art, than use illustrator, working w/ photographs use photoshop, laying out a brochure, ad, etc use InDesign. Don't bother w/ Quark.

To make T-shirt designs I...

1.) sketch out in detail, my idea

2.) take a digital picture ov it (cause I don't have a scanner)

3.) import the picture and trace over it using the pen tool in Illustrator.

4.) import to photoshop (150 ppi), rasterize, and fill with color

5.) save for web to size it down to under 60kb
