hey everyone! i really can't think of anything to write about for my environmental science ... i just need to pick a current environmental issue to write about...

i know there's a shitload to write about ... like oil spills, alternative energies, katrina ... but my friend is doing katrina... and i don't know how long oil spills and biomass can hold my attention.

so basically... i just need a topic that will be interesting for me to research...

i was thinking about the ganges river (because you know... dead bodies are floating in it, and it's polluting the water) ... but i'm worried that i won't find enough info about it.

thanx...

The Ganges River might also be problematic if you have to find pictures... I would be very very concerned about having to look at dead bodies floating around... :(

You could always do... global warming... or... overpopulation...

Alternate energy sources... popular science magazine had like a 12 page article on 10 ways we could eliminate our energy problem. It was pretty sweet. Like using ocean waves as a kinetic energy source.

If you want something unusual, try Indoor Air Pollution. It actually affects most of us.

Or Genetically Modified Crops. You may answer the question: It could save hunger in Africa and many parts of the world, but why do some environmentalists ban it?

But anyway, check out Greenpeace. It should help you. Good luck on the paper!

hey backtozero.. thanx for showing me the site .. it's really cool... i never thought that electronics could be so wasteful... i'll try to limit my garbage output...

i'm thinking about doing either indoor air pollution, acid rain, or genetically modified crops.

thanx!

I did Acid Raind in 5th grade for some science fair and it took me past county and I got 2nd place in region ( if I remeber right a girl from my school won it garrr)
anyways it would be hard to write much about it on a high school level
its bad for statues, plants, and fish and amphibians and thats about it
and its caused by pollution

I picked it cause I thought it was actual acid rain and when it raind people were like ahh shit and theyd put up there umbrellas and it would burn through it and everyone would be in a panic to run for cover hehe

actually ... i'm in college ... a freshman ...haha .. that's what i thought too

ok... i guess i'll nix that one ...

so it's down to indoor air pollution or genetically modified crops

I would go for genetically modified crops cause they sound contraversial and if you do indoor air pollution youll sound like one of those infommercials :/
