Alright Threadless peeps.

I've been down the markets this weekend (I live in London, The Big Smoke) and I noticed a few TShirts being sold by unscrupulous marketeers which had designs by some of us threadlessers on em!

I was a bit pissed off as I haven't made a penny from Threadless for the designs I have submitted, although I do realize that it is not guaranteed when you submit a design to Threadless that you are gonna make money from it. I was pissed off! someone has been trawling Threadless and has been picking designs off the site and getting them printed and is selling them on market stalls, basically ripping off our designs and making money out of them. The designs I noticed were a few by Glennz "Garden of the Darkside" "Phone Home" " Not to mention the coyright implications I think this is just a complete pile of wank!

I dont know how this blog works on Threadless, whether anyone will pick this up or not. I hope some of you do and I get some feedback. I already had a word with the marketstall owner and asked him a few questions, trying to find out where he got them from without seeming angry. "Do you buy designs?"

What is the general feeling about this amongst you fellow threadlessers?

Laters.

Dave

Did you check the inside of the shirt to make sure it wasn't Threadless'? What did the marketstall owner say in reply?

^Some of my original post seems to be missing^

They were cheap generic blank T-Shirts and the printing was not of very good quality.

The market-stall bloke told me that his 'boss' was in charge and he didn't generally buy designs. as he did most of them himself.

Unfortunately he was on lunch and he didn't say when he would be back. I got the impression that I wouldn't get to talk to the boss.

The chap I spoke to was slightly evasive and he seemed a bit on edge as I was asking questions which he obviously knew he couldn't answer truthfully. What do you guys reckon we should do to protect our work and stop these rip off's happening? Any advice appreciated.

Check it!

The image is from Camden market, I only found out about this because a friend noticed my design being sold on t-shirts at Spitalfields market. It could obviously be going on elsewhere too.

I just hate the fact that these lazy mofo's get to make money off other peoples work. I would like to confront them properly and threaten to take action against them, however I reckon I would just get my ass whupped. He was a mean looking geezer.

I guess there is nothing that can be done as they would probably just remove the offending items from their stalls. I am going to go to Spitalfields next weekend to see if I can get some more photo evidence and another chat and get an idea of how big the operation is etc.

I will update you on any developments.

I was in the Valley in Brisbane, Australia last night and saw a dodgy threadless rip off in a store window. was gonna start a blog of my own - think i might, but yeah it's even going on over here. i have seen crap rip offs at the valley markets too... poor shirts - poor print jobs with bad registration and terrible colour choices. i just think its sad.
