Hmm. Well I recently purchased I Am Analog in a girly medium. Wore it. Washed it. It totally shrunk. The length of it is now lower than my small Go Japan! shirt.
It looks like a pile of cow dung now. What a rip.

Now you know not to dry it. (Seriously. Even on low heat. Don't do it.)
Also, I'd suggest only washing it in cold.

Have other people had this problem? Both my boyfriend and I wear mens' sizes and have washed and dried our shirts at least ten times each, but have had no problems at all.

american apparel stuff shrinks like crazy. large aa pretty much equals a medium ftl after washing. I do like how they fit better though ( the fotl arms seem to do this weird flaring out thing =/ )

Yeah I always dry mine and it never shrinks, unless they are huge.

Why is AA so popular then? Weird.

Good thing I wear men's! I've washed my meduim "peace/pieces" shirt a bunch of times and it still fits great.

I find the trick with american apparel is to wash, and then hang dry instead of putting it in the dryer. AA is so hit or miss, I have one shirt that's a large that I washed and now looks like a small, and I have a few that haven't shrunk at all.

my men's Pandamonium shrunk a bit after the first wash. i like the tightness of it after wash, but not the length. :(

yep. my 'i <3 destroy' is uselessly tiny. maybe i'll make a pillow.
it's just odd. i've bought FTL everywhere (yes, even wal-mart) and i've never seen such an impossibly large difference in original size vs. shrinkage.
i'd really prefer to wash my clothes instead of buying new ones every time i sweat one up.
my newest three i've washed cold and dried for about a minute, and they are doing fine.
just get in the habit of having a seperate load for your precious threadless shirts.

Send it to me. ;)

I have a few ftl shirts too, they're 100% cotton though and I haven't noticed any shrinking.

I soaked it in water. And stretched it back out. All is good now.
Although it still is smaller...

I only have one threadless AA shirt (girly medium) so I can't really say this is a rule, but here's what I've experienced:

The shirt fit perfectly when I got it. I hand washed it and hung it up to dry, and there was no shrinkage. The next time, I put it in the washing machine on cold and hung it up to dry. I've washed it a few times like that now. It seems like the front side has shrunk, for whatever reason, even though I've taken pretty much every precaution to prevent that. Ah well. It still pretty much fits, just now as well.. and I suppose I could always get it wet and stretch it back out.

wash cold, dry on medium till damp, hang dry. this will prevent color loss and shrinkage. AA is the best shirts, but I wish they had a poly blend.

i wash mine cold and hang to dry for the first wash. for some reason i like to think this minimizes shrinking in the future? i like to hang things to dry upside down with the clippy hangers when they get too short. works sometimes.
