I'm going to Texas for a few days this winter break, so I was wondering if any of you folks had any insider tips?

Awesome places to see? Eat? Shop? See a show?

WHOA, I LIVE IN AUSTIN.

When are you going? You may be able to see the Trail of Lights which would be AWESOME.

Other things to do:

Check out South Congress if you want to shop or something.

Shows are a must. Pretty much anywhere on the Red River district will find you a show easy.

If you're near campus, Kerbey Lane is a pretty good place to eat.

WATERLOO RECORDS. You HAVE to go.

In SanAntonio the River Walk is really nice along with the mall and Dick's Last Resort ( a crazy restraunt that has waiters that are supposed to treat you meanly.. or something like that)

I live in San Antonio!

Unlike emily, I think SA is fun (:

You can go downtown and see the Alamo.

Go to the Riverwalk (it is the most popular attraction in all of Texas).

You can have lunch or dinner at the Tower of the Americas.

You can go to Ripley's Believe it or Not, Madam T's Wax Museum, & other places like that downtown.

You can go to the Magic Time Machine restaurant.

Shop at either La Cantera which is an amazing mall (right next to Six Flags) or NorthStar Mall on 410.

You can go to Six Flags or Sea World in the weekends only.

Right now Six Flags looks amazing at night with snow and everything!

There is a lot to do in SA.

I always have fun haha.

I'm going to have to think on this since you're under 18 and that cuts out most of the music scene here (Austin).

I agree with canceromega about south congress. If you do that, on south first not far from there is a mexican place called Polvo's that's pretty decent. Or get a burger at Casino El Camino on Sixth. It's a bar, but I think during the day you can go in to just eat.

Last time I was in San Antonio (which has been quite a while) we walked up toward the Alamo fully intended for a visit but then got distracted by the Ripley's Believe It or Not / Wax Museum across the street and never made it.

People often try to take visiting friends and relatives here:

Esther's Follies

but I've never been a big fan.

San Antonio has a really great mall, the Alamo, which is cool the first few times, a nice zoo, Seaworld, Six Flags, and Schlitterbahn...

I'm sure I misspelled that...

I was there for basic training, I agree the river walk is amazing in San Antonio. The alamo is in the same area. There is probably a lot of awesome things to do that arent really for tourists, so make sure you ask some locals, those are always the best spots.
