I prefer the thrift scene, actually. I haven't spent more than a dollar for a tee aside from my threadless expenses in years.

tell me about it. i've been thrifting since '90 and it's gotten harder to find anything good in probably 3 years now. thanks high fashion. they saw our style- which was more a lifestyle than fashion sense, co-opted it, stole it, then when thrift shirts got scarce, they started making fake vintage tees...many companies are still on this bandwagon, i like that threadless is not one. i had onlybought one shirt from threadless before i won some credit, because i too refuse to spend more than $10 on a shirt -MAX.

Threadless is pretty slick, I have to admit. Stores like A&F, Hollister, American Eagle, they're producing "vintage" tees like hotcakes. I've got a stretch of about twenty five miles of unadulterated road lined with thrift stores, consignment shops, farmer's markets, and flea markets. Every weekend, that's my game. I usually catch flak from my friends for buying shit I have no connection to, like my "Temple Beth Orr: Where Jewish Learning Thrives" shirt, and I'm not the least bit Jewish. Most of the shirts in my closet were two, three, or four for a dollar.

Shit Travis, I hear you regarding the inability to find decent shirts in thrift stores nowadays but youd be screwed trying to buy a decent t in the uk on that budget mate, unless you wait for the threadless sales. I dont think ive seen a decent t in the shops in the UK for less than £20 for quite some time....damn fashionistas and their haute couture thrift chic

lately i've been getting thrift store plain colored- no prints- and stenciling them, or just going printless.

all the decent thrift stores near me are the ones that know how much people want their stuff, all the shops with the senile old dears sell crapp that smell like curtains from the backroom of a pub.

I just found a slick little shop that'll print out tees on the fly, and not too pricey either. I may be paying them a visit fairly soon.
