I am having the most difficult time making my 100x70 px gifs high quality. what program should i use and how??? And, I don't have photoshop, only illustrator

So, i am picking up the latest version of Adobe(tm) Illustrator. I have loads and loads of t-shirt designs on paper; however, I am very unfamiliar with the tricks and trades of computerized illustration. Also, I'm left-handed. Am I nervous, yes? When I'm done submitting designs, will you vote and buy them, yes!
