Hello friends!

I have a question as I have looked into the vastness of the internet, and it has failed me.

I need to find a way, through css, to have a div layer change background color while hovering. I know it is easy in A/links but I can't find a way for it to work with div layers, regardless of finding several tutorials.

So, Help!

cross the streams
invert the polarity
go for a smaller band size and larger cup size.

It's okay Threadless, I know you are either asleep or just starting your day. I forgive you.

Not you though, Leon.

So I've given up on the above endeavor, but I am now having an issue of my footer overlapping my content. I tried to have it fixed at the bottom but now when I adjust the browser size it overlaps. MAKE IT STOP.

I don't know if you can do that color-trick with css, but you can change the color on mouseovers with jquery's (javascript) animate function together with a color plugin for it. (it will take some googl'ing and might sound like chinese).

Or easier if you're using Dreamweaver, you could use the easy hide/show elements javascript in the behaviour (or components?) tab, duplicate your div a couple times on top of each other (#content, #bg1, #bg2): on mouseover of #content hide #bg1, on mouseleave show #bg1 again. Not sure if that's a good method but it could work...

Oh man Anna, I recently logged back in, apparently I'm a NEOMILLIONAIRE now because I let all my stocks sit for over 10 years... because they never delete your account.

BRIAN! I have the footer finally set at the bottom, its just still the content/boxes that get overlapped. Why didn't I see what you sent me?

oh, that's weird.

well, in answer to your div question, yes. it's very simple. however, it doesn't work in internet explorer because IE has super shitty web standards.

all you need to do is something like this:

#div1 {
width: 500px;
height: 500px;
background-color: #333;
}

#div1:hover {
background-color: #666;
}

i got your message this morning, and i IMed you back even though you were offline. i guess you didn't get it.

your footer is overlapping because all your divs are using absolute positioning, meaning they'll always stay in the same spot regardless of how you resize your browser.

IE can suck it anyway.

I did that a thousand times yesterday and it wasn't working within my csschaos (for the colors).

For the footer -- does this mean I need to recode everything?

i don't know. i'll have to take a look at it.

i also don't know why you used absolute positioning for everything.

kayceislost on Sep 01 '11 at 1:37pm
Well I dont know now either. I didn't think about it. And because I needed them to align to each other?
nickv47
nickv47 on Sep 01 '11 at 1:38pm
what tracerbullet said. the div that you want to change just add :hover to.

if you can post a link that'd be helpful too.

fuck older browsers. it's up to them to feel outdated and inadequate. it's not your problem if dinosaurs aren't catching what you're throwing.
