Germophobe that I am, when I heard "Spread the Joy", the first thing that came to mind was, of course, diseases! :D hahah Thus, my totally classy submission above. So yes, much like Norwalk Virus, the infection from 28 Days Later, or the deadly Mutaba virus, joy is highly communicable. Nothin' like spreading joy through regurgitation! Thumbs up to cute vomit! (everyone: eew.) However, I realize the substance dripping from the fellow could pass for any number of bodily fluids. So please, take your pick. :D In closing: caret underscore caret!!!!!!!!

As far as I can tell, the possible reasons for it being declined were:

- Vomit is offensive? (although I'm not sure of this one, since there have been many feces related entries here, hahah So who knows; maybe it's all about context, perhaps it's vomiting on someone, that's what's offensive?)

- They thought the text in the design was too small. (understandable! Although, the text in my chopsticks design as well as my "ray of sunshine" design have even smaller text. Also, I printed it out, and it's definitely within printable range; I was hoping that my note saying it was readable would be convincing, but perhaps not. haha :/ here's a close-up of the text. I wanted them to look like mystery chunks/mucus/organisms in the vomit. I'm gross. :D)

- Due to the massive influx of last minute entries they probably receive on the day of the deadline, perhaps their standards of what makes it through become very particular. :/ (haha and I turned mine in like, two hours before the deadline? :D)

- Maybe they thought it wasn't enough of a stand-alone design and TOO closely related to the theme? :/ (although, I'm not sure of this one either, as I saw a handful of designs using the actual LocoRoco characters, as well as a whole ton of other very literal interpretations.)


(and yes, as someone pointed out last time, I over think everything way too much. :D)


Anyhoo, I dunno if I should try to resubmit it for the general contest, or put it in cold storage. (wtf cliche) Last time a design of mine was rejected, a lot of helpful people suggested reasons that it might've been declined, and after reworking the design, it was accepted! :D So I'm not sure if it'd work for this one or not, but perhaps it's worth a try? Or not? haha


But yes, after my first rejection, I've come to expect it now, hahah (aim low so you're never disappointed! :D)
