I need help! I am using Jasc Paint Shop Pro 8 for my submission. The Design was created in a much larger file size than the 640 x 480 large image size, and when it is reduced to that size, it is way pixelated. Also, I cannot place the image on the shirt template without it again being pixelated. Another problem is when I save my design as .gif : the colors are really screwed up and dots appear all over large colored spaces. I have spent weeks on my design and it is really awesome. My design isn't anymore detailed than some of the designs printed. Even if you guys don't like my design, I need to figure this out for my sanity. Help!

Okay well first of all, it sounds like you skipped a handfull of steps when learning how to do this kind of stuff. The problems your getting are sort of essentials you should know before putting an actual design together.

But you've got your design, so let's try to figure this out (but please try to put more time into the boring stuff first next time). So you should have your Paint Shop Pro file in layers. If anything have it in RGB mode. Always save the original huge layered file seperate from everything okay? Now if you've already flattened it and reduced the colors or something, yeah it's gonna look bad when you size it down small. But if not, make sure your sizing both the width AND the height down the exact same percentage. Err, sorry I don't have that problem, and you probably wouldn't be having this problem if you had Photoshop or Illustrator.

But about the grainy-ness when you save it, your compressing it too much. Or using a bad "compression technique." Try anything you can to work around that, the file size of your tshirt preview doesn't matter. So even if it's a regular sized gif (not compressed) it doesn't matter.

Hope that helps.
