Let's pretend I was ordering Threadless t-shirts! What size should I get? I normally wear a small OR medium, but I hate my t-shirts being big on me. The sizes say I should wear a medium, but like does it shrink? Because the mediums are always a little too big for me around the waist :(

measure a shirt you like the fit of and compare it to the measurements on the size chart.

just let me know if you figure out why the size chart here differs rather drastically from the size chart american apparel has.

Yes, they do shrink. I washed mine in cold and air dried it and it still shrank about 1/2 of an inch, width wise and length wise. I'm normally a small, but I get mediums because I can always sew them if they don't shrink.

btw, you might also be able to stretch the shirt back out if you get a small. The only thing you might have to worry about, then, is shirt length.
