This summer, I'm going to be making a website where I'll sell my homemade caramels. I'm calling it Pete's Caramels. Since I know everybody on Threadless is a whole lot more talented than I am, I figured it would be fun to have a little contest to make a logo for my website.

I want a cartoon-y (but not too childish, similar to a threadless style) digital logo of a pot full of swirly caramel with a candy thermometer sticking out the side. Perhaps something similar to the globe logo at thereminworld.com, but a little more vibrant.

For some inspiration, the pot, caramel and thermometer should look something like the picture at:

The main contest will be for this illustration, but if you want to also include a design for the Pete's Caramels typeface, preferably with a caramel color and perhaps some caramel dripping off the S's, this would be appreciated and would be considered along with the illustration. A similar typeface for the slogan, "They're Caramelicious!" would also be cool, but not required. If you want to combine any of these into a single graphic, feel free.

I'll run this contest until I get a fair amount of entries, and then I'll close it (probably within a week, but we'll see how it goes). People can submit as many entries as they want. If I don't get good entries (though knowing Threadless I doubt that will happen), I can choose not to declare a winner.

I don't have a big budget like Threadless, but I will give the winner credit for the logo design on my site, a free batch of caramels once I get up and running (trust me, they're good) and probably some STP next time I order from Threadless. Runners up might eventually get some STPs too if my Threadless addiction continues to spiral out of control.

You are free to use the design in a portfolio or anything like that, but note that by submitting your design you give me all rights to use the logo on my website, in a business setting, and for possible merchandising or any other way I choose with the prizes as the sole compensation (sorry, I'm poor). I suppose I should also say that my decision is final and the rules are subject to change in case I messed something up.
