So let's say your amazing design isn't printed by Threadless
and you have the time, energy, and resources to print your
own design. How would you go about doing it yourself ?

if your design has more than one ink color,

then you have to make a screen for each color

There's still a billion sites that have sprung up where they will do all the work for you if they decide to print yours works. Once the 90 days are up (it's still best to be printed at Threadless of course...luckythreadz, noisebot, cottonfactory, bountee, designbyhumans, etc. And of course, you could have them made by one of those print-up places as well.

But ask Sonmi since her independant prints for Life Prism look amazing and are printed on real quality tees.

I think I might do that.

seriously.

that's awesome, I always wanted to know how to silk screen.

FRICKINAWESOME,

Yeah there's places that will do it for you if you pay them,

but there's nothing like doing it yourself. I printed one

shirt a loooooong time ago to make some lifeguard shirts.

I took a silkscreening class to have someone lead me by

the hand through the whole process and it was fun.

And I'm thinking that when you print your own stuff

and your friends and family start becoming recipients

of your work, they can brag not only about you being

the designer, but that you put your own sweat and

skill behind the actual printing of what they're wearing.

You also have to have some sort of registration technique or multiple color press if you have a multiple color design. I usually print my one color designs myself, or do "one offs" of my multiple color designs. It's pretty fun, I would highly suggest doing it if you are at a college that has a printing room with a press.

I guess if you're in a rush, there's always that computer

printer paper made for transferring straight to t-shirts.

Has anyone ever tried that stuff ? I've heard some bands

used those when they were first starting out.

The transfer paper is trash. It looks worn out after one or two washes and not in a good way.

Helo, i got ya. Yeah, you're right about doing it all yourself. I just have little to no interest in actually silkscreening, because I would most definitely make it look atrocious. I'm all about what goes on the shirt, not printing it. Best of luck to you! If you perfect your skillz, i might hire ya to do a run for me of something! I look forward to printing with the new Helo Press style...

FA shoot ! I ain't gettin' into it since I don't have any thing to print

I just see so many good designs and Threadless can't print

them all so I'm hoping designers might print the designs

themselves - since I can't run around looking at every

t-shirt contest site hoping those designs will eventually

win one of them - unless the sites you listed are the only

players in town.

thanks for answering my question, J-Ray.

I was hoping they were better than that.
