I remember years ago out at my aunt and uncle's house (at the time) there was this great horned owl, which was either sick or injured, because he couldn't fly away. He hopped, if I remember correctly, and then he just sort of sat in a spot for a while. We were able to get pretty close to him - maybe 15 feet.

He was an absolutely beautiful bird.

awww, wow, yeah, that would be magnificent. Sigh.

I've been swell. This summer has been a whirlwind (in both the good and bad sense) and it just feels so nice to finally sit peacefully in my room.
You must be loving Portland, yeah? I just got back from that side of the country. I really wish I could find some marion berry pie here. I'm having some major hankerings for it.

Also when I was little and living in Northern Canada we had a few Great Grey Owls nest in a dead tree on our property. But they didn't scare me as much as the decoy owls we had in our barn.
