hello everybody, i was just wondering...how does everyone feel about professionals (people that have their own design/ graphic design company, their own t-shirt line, or are currently doing design/marketing/graphic design/etc for a major company) submitting designs ? just curious... :)

As a consumer, I'm all for it.
The higher quality going in, the higher quality coming out, right?

Graphic designers are professionals in what they do, well most them are anyway, and I'd rather put my money on a pony that has knack and a keen eye for ideas and how to execute them instead of the odd bloke who just happens to have photoshop installed on his/hers computer. That was a bit complicated huh?

i don't give a toss if you do it for a living or not as long as the tee's good.

That's how threadless began. A group of 'professional' designers releasing some creative energy by designing t-shirts

If the person has a talent, submit.
Sure, it may blow out some of the more amateur artists out, but that will make them work harder.
Hell, its whats making me improve myself.

Carl Nyman/Sixten is a pro. He has done stuff for 2k T-shirts.

I don't think it matters whether you're professional or not, it's just all about what the final design is. Even the simplest designs look nice on t-shirts. Everyone is capable of winning.

Its all good in the hood. Also it may make amateurs try harder and post better stuff. Or dare I say... look into becoming a graphic designer.

Yay.

I love seeing well-known artist's work on here, especially if their submissions score lower than one of mine... it makes me feel good.

As long as I get a kick ass T-shirt to feed my addiction, I couldn't care less if the person is a professional or not.

Or in the immortal words of Jesus Quintana..."It don't matter to Jesus1"

Yeh, i reckon its great that pros and ams can compete against one another. The good submissions set the standards and pretty much force you to do something on that level or even better if you can even consider being in top contention for a print.
