it's a bit distracting with all of the shapes made on it.
it'd look more interesting if you made the sign extending from the background (not fitting within the same box as the background). the fact that it's bordered with a straight-edge rectangle makes it a little uninteresting.
hope you understand what i'm getting at here.

too muddy

Extremely muddled, splotchy image. Almost impossible to see what it's supposed ot be. Also don't like the rectangular cut-off around the image. I also tend to rate cliche political statements poorly.

the image looks stretched and was cropped... which i can't stand at all on t-shirts. the illustration could be refined a lot more also.

I think if you got rid of the background trees, that would have helped. It needed to be cleaned up a bit (ie: various blobs of stuff on the sign)

I'm personally not a fan of politically motivated shirts. I'd rather have something universally clever than a political statement. And it's VERY hard to tell what's going on,

i like it a lot... but didn't get a chance to vote 5buy before it was removed... so I'll do it now... 5 and buy.

maybe if you wore birkenstocks and told everyone how much you love their crappy designs they might give you 5's but instead they all get together if they dont like you and and vote zeros, then you get your stuff dropped.. its really funny how much its like trying out for cheerleading in highschool.. dont take it personally. the only way to get a shirt printed on here is to screw the football team.

Getting feedback is helpful. I agree with some but not all of it. It's supposed to be muddy/oily but i think i can clean up some parts of it. I will clean it up, the design is boring without background but i'll see what comes up. Less mud & more clarity.

It would have been great if people actually left comments initially so I knew what was not being liked about it. Not that I will change my ideas to please everyone.

B&C: well that's probably partially true. Even if I feel justified saying someone's work is ass, that person regardless of skill may not be humble enough to not take retribution when they see a piece of mine regardless of it's quality.

Popularity contests are shit, and the way the system is set up here, it can very easily become such. I think though most ppl are just looking for good designs, so I'm hoping that has little to do with it.

i'm never this picky, but if you want to know everything that's wrong with it, here goes:

the image is horizontally stretched - the soldier's legs and head especially look squat... the text is incongruous with the grunginess of the image, far too clean-lined and 'birthday party'. in the context, a hand-written sign would work much better. the boxiness, especially where the tree cuts off, is also too straight to mesh with the rest of the image. the color combination is muddled - the burgundy takes away the earthtones' chance to fly. where you try to use the burgundy in a shadow (on the face, for example), it's not actually darker than the grey around it, just a different color, so there's no depth there.

i personally would never wear a shirt like this, but that's just me and it doesn't mean a lot of people on the site wouldn't share your sentiments.

fives go to designs that are either ridiculously clever, or they make people say "whoa...i wish i'd made that myself" in their heads. try stepping back and looking at your designs as a whole, not section by section, and taking in the visual impact of its entirity.

on another note...humility has nothing to do with being okay with being called "a**". it does, however, have something to do with blaming low scores on a popularity contest instead of the weakness of one's own designs.

Kallen also goes around leaving some pretty inconsiderate, uninformed comments on a LOT of entries under the pretense of being educated, so maybe he feels that people are hutning him down for retribution, but I doubt that any of us care that much.

" good concept but the artist hasn't matured enough to pull it off. "

"For all the praise here, it looks like a 13 yr old spent 20 minutes in MS Paint. If i even start to compare this to most of the designs i see here, it belongs at the kiddie table for rating."

Insulting the artist? Come on, now.

Sorry man, it just isn't that good a design. The image is garbled with all the crud floating around. For someone who talks about clean lines and images when commenting on others' work, you should maybe take your own advice.

The design is not boring so much as tired and cliched. Everybody knows that the champagne socialists of the world (esp. here in North America) think that the war in Iraq is wrong and all George W. cares about is oil and blah blah blah. If you want to change the world don't bitch to your like-minded friends from the comfort of your favourite coffee bar at home and make crappy t-shirts, strap on some boots and go help. That's my politically motivated comment.

I don't think anyone would wear it aside from the guy who designed it.

Here are a few of the reasons I gave it a 0:

- horrible use of PS cutout filter
- the soldier's arms are so long that they would drag on the ground if he weren't holding the...rigid flag (?)
- typography is awful...not just bad...awful...the kerning is irregular and, worst of all, the "Y" hangs miraculously off of the sign.
- the colors are too drab...it's obviously meant to be a political/protest/"angst-y" type of shirt, yet the colors are really subdued
- I wouldn't wear it
- I wouldn't want to see others wearing it
