why dont we just do all of our testing on death row inmates, they have nothing to live for anyways, 3 meals a day and a workout, so lets inject them with whatever we've got and see what happens, or give them transplants and see if it works, we would get better results on a real human than a test tube full of genetic material. save the animals some pain and get rid of these slow rotting killers.

dude, are you serious ekaj? are you one of those "animals are people, too" dudes that's never taken a metaphysics course in their life or thought about the fact that a cat can't read?

dude, jackanapes, i dont care that much about animals - my parents and their parents are farmers and hunters, i've seen plenty of animal death and caused some of it too - i just dont care about killers or evil bastards on death row wasting away in a cell when they should be put to some good use instead of getting a free ride until they die of old age for killing some kid or raping some chick for no reason - you telling me jackanapes that they shouldnt be used? wouldnt we get better and more accurate results testing on humans rather than animals? cut their heads off and try to attached it to a lions body, i'm all for it!

how do you mean ResFish? I this case, according to the article, in the United States there has not yet been a law passed that specifically addresses this sort of genetic experimentation. Obviously, certain groups are lobbying for and against the topic...

Well, ekaj47, there is a school of thought that maintains that society should not sink to the depths of its bottom-dwellers....in this case, perhaps it would not be wise to torture or experiment on prisoners simply because they are criminals...there are however, instances where criminals volunteer for experimentation for some sort of benefit....of course, dsicussing that topic could be a whole thread in and of itself...

I think my main concern with this thread was literally the topic of the article...is it a wise or moral thing to begin splicing animals and humans together? I tend to agree with one of the people quoted in the article: we, as humans, have a rolee of stewardship, both of nature and animals, and over ourselves...and to conduct such experiements in the name of science seems to fly in the face of that stewardship.

Its a slipperly slope, as are many related topics...Mainly I wanted to bring this to other people's attention, as I myself had not realized the breadth such experimentation already taking place...and also, I was interested in hearing other people's take on this.
